I watch bitching about the possibility of the E tanking this whole thing like they tend to when its unintended, but as someone pointed out to me, the whole gimmick seems like a Vince pet project.

Curtis's will has been tested already. He "won" NXT and was left there to die forever when it was relegated to an internet show. Then, he was called up to Smackdown, and given an awful gimmick of a guy whose running joke was that he never actually wrestled, and did shit like pour milk over his own head.
Now Fandango, which would have failed on 99% of guys, because not only is it an incredibly hard gimmick to pull off and takes a great performer to make work, but it was also panned by nearly everybody the first few weeks and it would have been easy to lose confidence. Instead, he grabbed it by the throat and owned it to the point that he went from "go away heat" to legit breakout star in a matter of three weeks.
I'm obviously buying the kid, I think he's loaded with superstar potential. The only thing that can derail him at this point is a panic move babyface turn which will send him to Santino territory. That's an area nearly impossible to recover from. They are teetering on that brink with Daniel Bryan, but I don't think they see much in him anyway beyond his current spot so it doesn't really matter.Comment

Finally watched Okada/Tanahashi today. It was awesome don't get me wrong. I don't know if it was the best match I've ever seen. I'm not even sure I'd put it above Tanahashi/Okada 1 or 2. With that said, it was still really really really awesome. You should go watch it. The psychology is unmatched. As we always say, every move mattered. Everything played into another move.Comment

Good. Now go watch Suzuki murder Yano, and check out the Tanaka/Takahashi vs Honma/Makabe tag.
Or just watch the whole god damn show.Comment

It's really remarkable how Tanahashi always, ALWAYS delivers. How can these two have four matches this good? This is Misawa/Kobashi territory. Tanahashi has to be in the conversation of the best of all time. He was elite before this run.Comment

I like the idea of paying homage to the winged belt. But that belt is kinda gay. I still think the Austin blue belt had plenty of gas left in the tank before it wore out. Especially given how long they stuck with that POS spinner belt.Comment

I can't get Fandango's damn theme song out of my head ... or his dance partner, she's 2013's Miss Elizabeth.
After reading Johnny Curtis' bio on Wikipedia, this guy is like Bryan Danielson, he's paid his dues and is worthy of this push.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

Its easy to forget how long they've had him. He's 31, been in the WWE since 2006 and been wrestling as a pro since '99. I always wonder about these guys they keep around for so long without doing much with. They have to see something there...
Hoping you are right on this one, W2B...Comment

Its fantastic.
The only thing better could have been if they put a Raptor head on there and maybe a machine gun.Comment

I remember him on NXT. He actually had some great lines but looked like he had zero future.

I am not on the bandwagon...but I find him to have less go away head and more of an ironic appeal to him.Comment

No way I give it 5-stars if I watch it spoiled. But live, I thought the dragon suplex was match over. And watching Tanahashi work over the arm, and Okada trying to recover from the damage and/or work out a new plan, had me thinking that if they finished this baby off hot, we had another classic on our hands.
