Alright,

1) The League Cup means shit all for a "top" club. Its an achievement for mid-table clubs, so if you want to be judged that way then fine.
2) You don't see Chelsea fans arguing about how just the chance to win the FA cup is an achievement. Again, a finals appearance is great for a mid-table club.

Its got to mean something that you're happy with these results when the top clubs you're trying to emulate would never be.

Yeah I get all that I know where he's coming from. What I'm really trying to say is their season has been a complete failure, yes our league showing has been bad but if we do the cup double I think that has to be viewed as a more successful season than theirs. Yes if you look at it that way with the money, being in the CL, etc he has a point but we've got something to show for our season they don't and getting to see Stevie lift silverware twice after so long I'd take that any day.

I expect us to win silverware every season, thats what we are meant to do that's what I want, silverware not just an opportunity. We've won it 5 times aleady, I can handle being out the CL one more year.

I don't think it makes up for 2nd vs 8th, which is why Man U and their fans wouldn't trade places with Liverpool right now.

You guys are looking at it wrong or just don't understand, the goal is to win trophies, if you're Sunderland or West Brom then yes that 500,000 per place might be important but big clubs and especially Liverpool win silverware. I fully understand long term that we need to be back in the CL for us to challenge for the league but that doesn't mean that winning trophies suddenly becomes any less important or that the focus should be on just coming Top 4 and saying fuck everything else. We hadn't won anything since 2006 which is unacceptable so putting that right by winning not one but two is a big deal even if one is the Carling Cup, 8th isn't acceptable either don't get me wrong but the League is gonna take more time, winning 2 trophies is a good start and it is better than winning nothing CL place or not.

Lets hold off calling the FA cup a shitty trophy. Carling, sure why not. However I'd consider the FA quite prestigious. Obviously not like winning your league or a European trophy, but its a good thing to win.

I wasn't trying to call it a shitty trophy. I was trying to say I'd rather have 2nd place, champions league, and the money that comes with those, then an FA cup. And so would United.
