The SuperBrawl match dropped considerably, and all future attempts were complete bombs.

Basically, he came out of the ceiling and went back to not drawing after one show.

          wut?

SuperBrawl 98 was the highest buyrate for SuperBrawl ever (40% increase from the year before), and is a Top 5 highest buyrate in WCW during the Hogan era.

This is why I need to be on the podcast for the Sting discussion.

The double main event of Sting/Hall and Hogan/Savage was also a top 5 buyrate for WCW during that era.

Spring Stampede 98 was easily the biggest Spring Stampede buy. Slamboree was the highest Slamboree event. Great American Bash was the highest buyrate for the event since 91...and that was the end of Sting's run and you started to have DDP and Celebrity v. Hogan and Rodman/Biscoff matches.

Not entirely accurate. Tied for highest with the 1999 version.

I'm on a plane and don't have time to look it up. What did SuoerBrawl do vs Starrcade? Match 2 vs Match 1.

And how many total buys is that?

Like I said, the Sting/Hogan program dropped like a stone. House shows headlined by Sting also bombed iirc. They thought they caught fire with him and it didn't even last 3 fuckkng months.

I like Sting. He's unfairly beat up by some. I think he's a hall of famer. Not a bigger star than Foley, and frankly, it isn't even close.

Also, I love how anything Foley drew was because he was a cog in a machine, but Sting pops one buy rate in his life, against one of the best draws of all time, but we chalk that up entirely to Sting.

                        Let's be fair.

All I can get is the buys for Starrcade which was 650,000. I'll keep hunting.

Up to that point, it was by far the highest, which was the point.

The next year, it was Hogan/Flair.

                              One more.

If Sting was such a huge star, why has he never been a house show draw?

Don't blame WCW, other people drew on the road (Flair, NWO, Hogan, Goldberg) during Stings years.

Fed see if you can find those Zane Bresloff quotes from the observer board. Bresloff ran the house shows and was shocked at how little Sting mattered. Meltzer posted them. Search Dave + Sting hall of fame.

I had half a Foley post about his main events last night, and I decided to scrap it.
