It's the culture that Ashley has created and Pardew spews out on a daily basis. We finished 5th two season ago and now suddenly they claim it's impossible to break into the top 7. The board constantly says we can't compete commercially with other clubs (while Ashley pays nothing for all the ad space his SD shit takes up), which for some reason means we should never even try. That could all be acceptable if we just tried in the cups and played attacking, passing football, but Pardew is totally inept.
