Most are saying that with the new cba negotiations that the annual cap rise will stop.
Technically this year though the cap never raised per say. They just brought the hard cap up to the same level as the allowed bonus overages since bonuses are counted towards the cap this year.
Vancouver was getting booed hard and then the guy thanked minnesota for their hospitality.
The guy they drafted knocked the cameraman over too.

Florida needs to actually hit the cap floor (LOL), plus, they got rid of Rusty's 3.something million dollar deal.
I'll take Campbell +4M over Rusty EVERY TIME.
Rusty never f'n plays and doesn't produce when he does.

I think also, Campbell's biggest problem was he was no longer the star on the Hawks. Not saying he is bitter, but rather, his minutes are a little reduced behind Seabrook and Keith. Florida he basically runs the show on the point now. Though Campbell still has a 5 year deal, (which was signed by Tallon) it shouldn't harm the Panthers to much. Considering this year there isn't many big name free agents who will sign with Florida, and they are so young they will have low contracts for at least the next three years.

Listen, is he overpaid? Yeah.
Does it matter in Florida? Probably not. It will be a long time before the Cats struggle with the hard cap. It isn't like they are a hot bed of free agency and most of their top stars, even after they are paid, don't want to stick around and would rather play for more hockey rabid areas.
Considering Florida will land very few free agents, nevermind the top ones...shedding Rusty's contract and getting Campbell, IMO, is a win.

Tallon should offer Brad Richards 120 million over 10 years just for the hell of it. They're still 26 million away from the cap floor, so they'll have to back up the truck for someone.
