2011 NHL Free Agency

2 sources close to the Flyers are saying that the Flyers are preparing to give Steven Stamkos a 14 year, 110 million dollar offer.
 
And I really hope the NHL comes in and says no to that shit and cites "you had two players signed to long term deals like this and traded them, you had it with Pronger and now you want to do it again."

I sometimes wish they would make it even across the board. You offer him $10M a season, that is a $10M cap hit. None of this averaged out shit. Because you know it will be like some $100-120M deal with a cap hit of 7-8.5M.

Ehrhoff will get his money from someone. No one is going to offer the Islanders any kind of pick for a 1 day window, and them offering anything for him in the first place was stupid. He'll go to free agency, and someone will throw the money at him. Colorado would be a good fit for him I think, as would maybe Winnipeg.
 
The Islanders offered more than $5M per year for Ehrhoff, on a multi-year deal, but the d-man declined.
 
Thing is, Ehrhoff just played in the cup finals game 7. He is not about to go to the basement of the league. So a team like New York needs to turn around better for something to happen. I see a mid level team signing him, if not like the Avs or something. He'll want to be in the hunt and not on a non-playoff team thats for sure.
 
That sums up the Islanders so well. Show the utmost respect in giving up something just to talk to a guy, offer him right on the upper side of what he's worth, and have him say no. At least they managed to re-sign jOkposo.
 
Roloson back to Tampa:

The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed goalie Dwayne Roloson to a one-year deal worth $3 million.

The 41-year-old netminder enjoyed a renaissance this spring with some strong play to backstop the Lightning to an appearance in the Eastern Conference Final.

Roloson split his time last season between the New York Islanders and the Lightning, posting a combined 24-25-5 record with four shutouts and a 2.59 goals against average. He then excelled during Tampa Bay's playoff run with a 10-6 record and a .924 save percentage during series victories over Pittsburgh and Washington. The Lightning eventually lost in seven games to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.

The veteran of 13 NHL seasons began his career with Calgary before moving onto Buffalo, Minnesota, Edmonton, and the Islanders before he was traded to the Lightning on Jan. 1 this year.

Roloson also earned $3 million last season in the final season of a two-year, $5 million contract. He was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this Friday had he not been locked up by Tampa Bay.
