He didn't sign the extension, he just opted in to his player option for next season instead of being a free agent this year.

Reports are saying that Howard wouldn't sign an extension with Houston if he was traded there.

Meh, that is what I meant. I still don't understand why he "opted in". when he could have been a free agent this year and had total control on where he wanted to go.

There were reports saying that the Magic were going to trade Dwight to the Lakers if he didn't sign his opt-in clause. Dwight didn't want to go to the Lakers, so he opted in.

The Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics are all actively pursuing a trade for Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford, according to a report by Comcast SportsNet Northwest.

According to the report, which cites a league source, the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns also have shown interest in the veteran guard.

Crawford, a 12-year NBA veteran, averaged 13.9 points per game last season, his first with the Blazers.

ESPN was talking about this the other day and apparently his reasoning was he didn't want to be portrayed like Lebron James as someone who just left and abandoned the team that drafted him. He wanted to give Orlando one more year at a chance to put talent around him or find a better trade which will help them out more.

Aww, Howard is so thoughtful.

Once you decide that you want to leave it really shouldn't matter. This is part of Howard's problem, because he actually concerns himself with what people think about him. Someone should tell him that once he leaves Orlando the fans will hate him regardless, but as with Cavs fans they will move on.

reports in N.J. Have deron Kidd and teletovic all signing with the nets. They are all repped by Jeff Schwartz who has a "strong" relationship with billy king. Being a net fan I know better then to get my hopes up.
