Yeah that fumble changed everything. That drive could of at least ended with a FG which would of helped at the end. It still sucks to think without that mistake they could of possibly won the game.

We missed a FG and fumbled at the goalline. That's 10 points left on the field.

You're assuming the falcons would have scored on that drive too. Falcons fumbled and 49ers fumbled to give them the ball right back. Falcons were forced to punt and we went down and scored. Falcons had 1 more shot and didn't get it done

no; i am not assuming that at all. but it certainly took away the "opportunity" to at least move the ball deeper and maybe get another score.
in turn; that fumbled snap put the 49ers at mid-field. even if the Falcons didnt get a 1st down, they would have to punt and make them march down the field in their own territory instead.
Turnovers turn games around......and that 2nd Turnover was a killer.

but its all irrelevant since i am liking this Big Brother vs Little Brother Bowl.......
rather see this matchup than any of the other combinations with the 4 teams today

I'm not a fan of either team, but I found it ironic that the last drive for the Niners, they got a first down for a blow to the head to Kaepernick and the following drive, Matt Ryan was hit repeatedly in the head with no call to be found. I'm guessing that's why the Harry Douglas catch was called as a make up call.

Btw, this SB matchup seems fixed. The NFL loves a good story and what better to sell than brother v brother and Ray Lewis' last game.

London Fletcher probably goes with Willis and Bowman in the game. Still have no idea why both of them made it and not Willis and Fletcher, nor how Gore got the nod over either Martin or Morris.

Fletcher is :flabby: but he and Kerrigan is in now that Smith and Willis cant make it.

Three questions.

#1 If the fix was in why would they even give the Falcons a make up call? Seems counterproductive.

#2 Why didn't they just rig this matchup last year when they had the perfect opportunity to?

#3 You realize any Pats SB combination would've likely drawn more money than the Ravens right? If their goal is to rig matchups to produce storylines...to produce $$$. Why not put NE back in?

Then at least for the Ravens, how did the Patriots get most of the penalty calls and they wouldn't call anything against them?

remember that referee in the NBA about 7 years ago came clean and testified that he was gambling on games he refereed, made calls to benefit, etc.....
not to mention he was a referee like 15 years before he even came clean.

no way in the world that he is the ONLY game official that was and is involved. they just havent been caught yet.

The two glaring things from last week for the Falcons that almost cost them the game were two of the same reasons why they lost. 1) NO pass rush 2) Tight End big plays and catches. Davis dominating us and even Walker got a huge 3rd down catch. Kap literally had ALL DAY to throw. Look at the pocket on some of those pass plays. It's embarassing really. The secondary covers well, but if you give a QB all that time, no way you can be successful. I don't think the run hurt us that bad.

Another thing that hurt us was our LBS. Spoon is ok, bent Dent and Nicholas just do not cut it at all. Some of the run plays could have been stopped at the los and they just can't make plays. The busted zone Nolan calls they are always out of position. Nolan never adjusted after SF got going. The score could have been alot worse.

Harry Douglass you gotta keep your feet under you. Could have been a different game if he doesn't fall.

But even though we did have a 17-0 lead, it's a game of adjustments, just like playing an opponent in Madden. Falcons were lucky in the 2nd half the score wasn't worse. SF fumble on the 1 inch line, and missed short FG. Falcons could have been down 14 pts (Granted SF scored on the drive following the 1 inch line fumble so maybe not). The better team and the better players will make adjustments. The better team was SF all around yesterday. And probably on most days.

Not sure if you are talking to me. No one said that games haven't been fixed in the past. What we did ask if how did he think THIS game was? There are questionable calls every game.

LOL at suggesting the game was fixed. Incosistently officiated at times, sure, but that's just general NFL referee incompetency and the convoluted rule book at play. I think the contact on Roddy on the last 4th-and-4 could have gone either way, but I didn't bother to scrutinize the replay frame by frame to see how much contact was being made while the ball was in the air. They seemed to be letting the DBs use their hands pretty liberally throughout the game on both sides, so whatevz.

Either way, if you need a bail out penalty to win a home game when you were up 17-0, you probably don't deserve to win anyway. To sit here and blame the loss on one single call, breaking it down frame by frame with screen shots would be BigBucs-level heaux shit.

49ers had a more well constructed team after the top 4-5 spots. Other than a pretty good QB and arguably the best trio of pass catchers in the league, the Falcons were basically a 7-9, 8-8 team everywhere else. It's actually amazing what those four guys were able to accomplish this year, and particularly in yesterday's game, saddled with a mediocre (at best) offensive line, running game and defense. The talent discrepancy at the LOS on both sides was pretty staggering, but somehow the Falcons were right there. RIGHT THERE.

Pretty confident that Dimitroff will make upgrades at the needed spots.
