Get over yourself. It's not that big of a deal. You are over analyzing this and blowing it way out of proportion because you are a bleeding heart hippy.

Making a big deal out of something like this is exactly what gays shouldn't do. Act like you are already equal and people will treat you that way. Getting up in arms about every single thing anybody says is a great way to alienate yourself from others. Look at radical Muslims that are offended too easily by cartoons.

There's a reason nobody likes people like al sharpton or Jesse Jackson. They play the race card too much.

There's been great progress with homosexuals in this country already. This little comment isn't setting that back.

Simply put, if your 23 year old co-worker called you a (insert derogatory brown phrase here) and that he wants you gone from the office because of it, your response will be "oh he's just being dumb 23 year old, no big deal". Correct? No problem right? Share with me some bullshit how you'd give him a high five and go out for drinks after work too. You're not going to cut him slack because of his age or job.

This doesn't offend you directly and his "athlete status" gives him special rights, so you don't care. I get your position. Most people don't give a shit about things that don't directly effect them, so it's cool for you and everyone else I guess.

I'm not making a as big of a deal as you're playing it out to be so spare me the dramatic comparisons to fucking Jesse Jackson. I just fail to see how you can brush it off as no big deal just because he's a "23 year old athlete" when comparative scenarios with non athletes simply would not be accepted in anywhere near the same manner. The issue I'm after is not really his comment, so much as why you (and most people) disregard it as nothing.

There is a cultural issue where pro athletes get special treatment when most people would lose their job over something like this. I've not once said he should be cut from the team, but the fact remains that special treatment for players is supported by the public for pretty terrible reasons ((being 23...which means what exactly other than the obvious?) (being an athlete? this entitles you to what?)). I guess I'm going overboard by pointing out something that exists?

But enough of Culliver, we need to put focus on celebrating the amazing Ray Lewis. Cause he's an athlete. Unless he lied about PED's (and murder, but that's not important like sprots is, so who cares), then he's the scum of the planet. Right?

Isn't the fact that we don't hold sports figures to the same standards as regular people why these situations come up to begin with? I'm not psychologist, but my gut tells me that undeserved preferential treatment causes people to act out and often act like pricks.
