Crazy the stuff you don't pick up on in these books, don't read unless you're well into or finished book 4.

 

So Jaqen H'ghar was the Alchemist who killed Pate in the prologue and then assumed his identity. Didn't realize this until I was reading a wiki about Jaqen yesterday.

I get lost on the asoiaf wiki and read a lot of stuff. It's not good because I have spoiled a few things for myself.

there was the snippet at the end of the fourth, but not in the beginning of the fifth... all it really said at the end of the fourth was that they (jon, bran, dany, tyrion) will appear in the fifth... it just somes fucking stupid to me, but w/e, he's made millions doing it this way... :dd:

Martin is quoted as saying that this was the worst literary mistake he has ever made. He wrote some of ADWD at the same time as AFFC, and then moved them to keep AFFC under 3000 pages. He then promised that ADWD would be out within a year because he had so much written already.

If I were you I'd just keep reading. You are going to finish the third book in shorter time than there is remaining in second season anyway, and from the looks of it they have included some early book 3 stuff at the tail end of season 2. Not to mention, by the time you finish the book you'll have enough episodes in the can to power thru them in one or two days leading up to the season finale. Seems like a more thorough experience than just watching once a week. It's a really good read.

I just finished ADWD... I'm so glad to be done with it. I ran into so many spoilers with this book and the rest of the series prior to it (damn you internet), so I'm planning on ignoring all details about TWOW except the release date info. I want to be shocked by this next book and I feel pretty confident that I will be. I was only shocked once in ADWD and even then, it's one of the "did that really happen" scenes... Anyway, I love how all the pieces are set-up for this next book.

If you are finished with ADWD:

I can't want for this to come to fruition. I really think that TWOW is going to open with a bang. Victarion will attack Slaver's Bay and I think he shouldn't have trouble smashing the Qartheen and Yunkish ships. Daenerys will probably shred Khal Jhaqo and his bloodriders, summarily taking over that piec of her former Khalasar. From there... I don't know if she goes and gets the other factions (if I recall correctly, Drogo's Khalasar broke into three peices) or brings them all back down to Mereen.

Those are the events I'm most anticipating.

Through the first 200 pages of AFforC, and not sure what all the complaints are about. I mean not much is happening yet, it's mainly dealing with the aftermath of previous events, but I'm enjoying the deeper perspective so far.

Through the first 200 pages of AFforC, and not sure what all the complaints are about. I mean not much is happening yet, it's mainly dealing with the aftermath of previous events, but I'm enjoying the deeper perspective so far.

I really liked that book. It is a slow burn, but it gets crazy, and some of the plots that it starts are actually more interesting to me than a lot of the stuff being dangled from the beginning.
