Despite striking out in his first 3 at bats, Gary Sheffield hit a 3 run homer to cap off a rally in the bottom of the 8th.

The Tigers staged a late rally in the bottom of the 8th to defeat the Indians in a game played under the lights at Comerica Park. The Tigers took a 7-3 win before a crowd of 22,825 fans. Miguel Cabrera went 2 for 4 and drilled a 3 run shot in the 1st inning to get things going early in this one. By the time things were settled though, Jeremy Bonderman was out of the game, though he did have a quality start by allowing 3 runs in 6 innings of work. Man, it was so sweet. Granderson led off the inning with a double. Polanco came up after him with a base hit and drove him in. I'm up 4-3. Then either Cabrera or Guillen got on base. Then Shef, who struck out 3 times already in the game, gets all of one and drills a 3 run homer. It was so sweet.

Shef redeemed himself. :bow:

It was a bad day at the home yard for the Tigers, who lost fairly easily to the division rival Indians today, 7-2. Magglio Ordonez seems to be getting into a rhythm batting in the #6 spot in the Tigers lineup now, as he went 3-4 along with a solo home run and a double to pace the Tigers offense. Edwin Jackson (1-4) started and took the loss. He didn't pitch much (5 innings), and he didn't pitch well (gave up 5 hits and 4 runs) in defeat. Tomorrow's game at Comerica Park featuring a matchup of Dontrelle Willis (1-1, 4.62 ERA) of the Tigers and Carl Pavano (1-0, 3.75 ERA) of the Indians will mark the end of the 3 game series. As far as Sheffield goes, he's actually playing decent for me. I'd rather maybe trade him for a team that needs a bat for a #4/5 starting pitcher in a 1 for 1 deal as opposed to just letting him go for nothing. However, I need some ideas as far as that goes. I also have to do that trade with the Braves here soon.

In a key AL Central Matchup today, the Tigers defeated the Indians in a tight game, picking up a narrow 4-3 victory at Comerica Park. Gerald Laird knocked in 2 runs, going 2 for 3 on the day with a home run. But the big story for the Tigers offense today, was Carlos Guillen's heroics. Down in the count 0-2, Guillen caught all of a Rafael Betancourt fastball and drove it over the right field wall, giving the Tigers the win and keeping his 23-game hitting streak alive.
