Gerald Laird sliced one down the line between Prince Fielder and the bag at 1st to bring in the game winning run.

The Tigers escaped with a 5-4 win tonight with 37, 875 fans on hand to witness the interleague contest. Magglio Ordonez went 3 for 4 with a triple and drove in 1 run to spur the club to victory. Zach Miner was the starter, allowing 3 runs and 8 hits in 6 and two thirds innings, but he didn't factor into the decision (though he did collect his 2nd quality start of the season). Usual closer Fernando Rodney picked up a rare win, his 2nd of the season, after surrendering the lead after a Prince Fielder solo shot in the top of the 9th.

Tomorrow night is game 2 of the series, as the Tigers send Jeremy Bonderman (5-3 , 2.25 ERA) to the hill against Braden Looper (2-6 , 4.06 ERA) and the Brewers.

Thanks. I tried to get an even better screen but it was difficult. The ball literally sliced back towards the foul line. I don't know how it stayed fair. It landed right on the foul line. When the ump called it fair, Guillen hustled home. It was dope. I thought for sure the game was going into extras.

Oh yeah, I'm super lucky we played in Comerica. Two of their long shots died at the warning track in straight center. They were 410 feet hits that were routine fly balls because of Comerica's 420' straight center. :rofl:

Braden Looper's slider had the Tigers' hitters lunging all night. Miguel Cabrera went 0-4 with a strikeout.

The Tigers found themselves on the wrong side of a 2-1 interleague contest today, losing to the Brewers in front of 38,011 fans at Comerica Park. Jeremy Bonderman (5-4) started and took the loss, though he pitched fairly well, giving up 2 runs and 11 hits over 7 innings. Mike Hessman, who filled in for Magglio Ordonez in right field today, went 2 for 4 and drove in the Tigers only run.

The series ends tomorrow afternoon, and toeing the rubber for the Tigers will be Rick Porcello (4-5 , 3.41 ERA), who will face Brewers' Manny Parra (2-7 , 4.40 ERA). Prince Fielder will look to add to his 10-game hitting streak.

Carlos Guillen came up on 2 occasions with runners in scoring position for 2 RBI's on the day.

In an interleague showdown this afternoon, the Tigers emerged victorious over the Brewers, winning 4-1 in front of 37,121 fans at Comerica Park. Brandon Inge knocked in 1 run and went 2 for 3 to provide some offense for the Tigers. Rick Porcello allowed 5 hits and 1 run in 7 innings, while striking out 5 to collect win number 5 of the season.

i always like interleague play because you see some other ballparks and its always funny to hit with the pitcher.

lol yeah, none of my pitchers have yet to get a base hit. Jackson got an RBI though, only because of an infielder bobbled the ball and Jackson made it to 1st before the throw.

It was a bad decision lmao, ERA over 8.

Anyway, nice series win over the Brew Crew. Jackson v Zambrano should be a good battle.
