Do we want to do 3 created characters or just one and the rest NPCs? Personally, I don't mind not creating someone just to increase the number of NPC story possibilities. But it is sometimes fun to nerd out and create back stories to everyone. I spent just as much time doing that in IWD2 as I did playing the actual game :shifty:

I'm calling dibs right now regardless on controlling Minsc. :smug:

I can play pretty much anything. But I'd prefer Mage or thief/rogue and I rarely dual class.

I always like the idea of dual classing but I find the trade off of being further into the game with more difficult enemies makes it not worth it.

I can't stand being a Thief, so if we do go the created character route, I'm usually a fan of either a Fighter/Archer, or a Ranger.

My preference would be to play as a wizard or sorc or ranger or rogue...in that order.

I wouldn't mind controlling two characters, so I'd want to pick up a melee class to use. I figure if our own characters are ranged, makes sense to have a fighter/barbarian to work with, rather than relying on each other to provide that level of protection the ranged classes need.

So we got 6 slots to fill. Honestly it is best to have 1 or 2 melee (tanks), 1 Thief/rogue (or someone to detect/disarm traps), 2 ranged (Mage/Cleric/Archer* etc...)

By the looks of it, we'll be running something like this.

??? - Fighter
??? - Mage
??? - Paladin (Tanky Heals?)
Bmore - Thief (Short Bow Proficiency?)
Killgod - Mage
Seth - Ranger

btw they added new Subraces and Classes that were only available in Baldurs Gate 2 and beyond. Sooooo... If you guys wanted you could create a Wild Mage, Monk, or Black Guard (etc..)


Which begs the question, I am to assume correctly that we are all going with relatively good aligned characters?

I have yet to play a non-good character in all of my playthroughs of the game. Or at least, to completion. I find the evil ones too difficult to finish the game. Neutral is fine. I prefer chaotic good myself.

eh' not really.

Baldur's gate is more a Strategy RPG that follows D&D 3.5 edition rules. While Diablo is a hack and slash, point and click (roughly) RPG. You need a bit more patience with Baldur's gate because the slightest fuck up strategy wise can turn a victory into a group wipe (everyone dies).

It's the "sim" version of Diablo.
