Browns Force Six Turnovers In Win

Only one single word can describe this game: UGLY. Between both teams, there were eleven turnovers. Eleven! This includes eight interceptions.

The Browns defense was dominant until there was 27 seconds left in the third quarter. After a 30 yard catch by Matt Forte, Chicago's offense finally started clicking and they had 140 yards in the final quarter.

Derek Anderson led the Browns in the first half with two touchdown passes. However, they decided to sit on the ball the whole second half. This decision lead to the running game get going.

Jerome Harrison rushed for 108 yards and Jamal Lewis and Chris Jennings combined for another 106.

Very nice win bro. The Browns are always interesting to follow because you never know how good or bad they will be. They could have all the talent in the world, but just can't seem to put it all together. Looking great though.

Also, the scores seem very realistic and low scoring. I hate chises that every game is predictable, knowing that the user was going to win, and they are very high scoring games. Easily becoming one of my favorite NFL chises on VSN.

After eight games, the Browns have been one of the most surprising teams in the league. After losing their first two games, the season looked like it would be another failure. However, they have battled back and are now .500 at 4-4. The biggest surprise might be that they are second in the AFC North behind Pittsburgh. Here are the division standings:

On the other side of the ball, the offense has struggled for most of the year. Still they put up enough points and can capitalize on short fields that the defense gives them. The running game is the focal point as quarterbacks have struggled all year.

Now the question that everybody has asked, are the Browns really that good or are they benifitting from an easy schedule?

It's a little bit of both to be honest. Their defense IS that good. They proved that throughout the year. However, their record is inflated. They have not beaten a team with a winning record yet.

They still might make the playoffs as they have an easy second half schedule in which they play just two teams with winning records. Also, they could finish strong with the last three games going against the Chiefs (1-6), Raiders (2-6), and Jaguars (3-4).

Midseason Awards

NFL MVP: Drew Brees
Drew Brees has always been a stat friendly quarterback. This year is no different. He has thrown for 2,456 yards and 26 touchdowns (league high) as opposed to only 6 interceptions. Also he has a quarterback rating of 99.8 (league high) and completed just under 60% of his passes. The key reason he is here though is his team is the best team in the NFC with a record of 7-1 and he is the leader of the league's highest scoring offense.

Runners up: Peyton Manning, Steven Jackson, Randy Moss, Tom Brady

Offensive Player of Year: Steven Jackson
Steven Jackson could possibly be the league MVP if his team was doing better. Unfortunately, they are not so he is here. Jackson is leading the league in almost every catagory such as yards, touchdowns, yards per carry, yards per game, rushes of 20 or more yards. Lets look at his stats, he already has 1,263 yards, 12 touchdowns, an unbelievable 8.2 yards per carry, averages 157.8 yards per game, and has 19 rushes of 20+ yards. Simply unbelievable.

Runners up: Drew Brees, Reggie Wayne, Frank Gore, Randy Moss

Defensive Player of Year: Lamarr Woodley
Once again the Steelers have one of the best defenses in the league. The main reason is this man right here. He has 47 tackles, 19 more that were assisted and 8 of them were for loss. He has the third most sacks in the league with 10.5 and has 2 interceptions. He has been a dominant force all season.

Runners up: James Harrison, Elvis Dumervil, Shaun Phillips, Shawn Merriman

Offensive Rookie of Year: Knowshon Moreno
In a weak year for offensive rookies, Denver's Knowshon Moreno has stood above the rest. Moreno has 773 yards already on just 112 attempts. That equals out to a staggering 6.9 yards per carry. He is averaging 96.6 yards per game and already has 7 touchdowns on the year. Moreno was the first running back drafted in the draft from the University of Georgia and is certainly living up to the billing.

Runners up: LeSean McCoy, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, Matthew Stafford

Defensive Rookie of Year: Rey Maualuga
This was a tight one between him and Rams' linebacker James Laurinaitis. Maualuga had 39 tackles, 16 more assisted. He had 8 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Also, he had 2 interceptions and 4 more deflections. His most impressive stat is he has forced 4 fumbles. That is a direct result of his insanely hard hits. He also recovered one of them.

Runners up: James Laurinaitis, Tyson Jackson, Brian Cushing, Brad Jones

Comeback Player of Year: Tom Brady
Was there any doubt about this one? I think everyone knew that Tom Brady would win this one. After missing almost all of that year after tearing his ACL, Brady is back to his MVP-esque play. He has a league high 2,621 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He is just under 60% completion rate and is averaging a league high 327.6 yards per game.

In the first matchup of these two rivals, the Browns came away victorious in a 27-10 beatdown. It was the Browns first win of the season. The Ravens collapsed after that, losing four straight to fall to 1-5. The season looked over.

Now, on Monday Night Football, they will get their shot at revenge against them. They are riding a two game win streak and are fresh from a 31-9 drubbing of the Bengals.

Their defense is starting to gel even without Haloti Ngata who is out with a torn bicep.

On the other hand, Cleveland's defense is starting to come together and is good at almost everything. They will give Baltimore fits and should cruise to a victory.

Win Streak Is Now At Three

The Brown's defense stymied the Ravens offense for most of the game.

The first time these two teams played, it was the Brown's running game and defense that was the defense. This time, it was no different.

The Browns rushed for 231 yards behind Jerome Harrison's 182 yard performance. He broke some long runs that were absolute backbreakers.

The biggest backbreaker however came from the defense. After a Browns score to make the game a 17-6 game instead of 10-6, Baltimore tried to score one more time before the half. Flacco dropped back to pass but fumbled after Wimbley sacked him. Trusnik scooped it and took it to the house right before the half.

Cleveland seemed to coast after that and Baltimore made the score closer than the game really was.

The soaring Cleveland Browns will travel to Detroit to face the pitiful Lions.

Still, the Lions have had a much better season than last year when they went 0-16. They are now 2-7. Their first win wasnt impressive against the downright awful Bears, however their second win was very impressive. They beat the 7-2 St. Louis Rams.

In the game, rookie Matthew Stafford threw three touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 22 of his 35 passes for 209 yards.

Stafford was the top pick in last year's draft out of the University of Georgia. At Georgia, his favorite target was Mohamed Massaqoui.

Massaqoui now plays for Cleveland is there leading reciever. The game will be fun to watch how they interact as enemies now.

Stafford Struggles, Lions Shutout

Stafford had the worst game of his young career.

For rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford, the game could not have been worse.

He completed only 6 of his 28 passes for a humiliating 38 yards. He threw an interception and should have had more but Cleveland's secondary dropped atleast 7 easy ones. He fumbled twice and was sacked 4 times including a safety.

Detroit's offense struggled as a whole gaining only 99 yards and only 6 firstdowns.

Cleveland's offense thrived with their running game exploding. Harrison left the game early after a 28 yard first quarter. To fill his void was Jamal Lewis and Josh Cribbs.

Lewis rushed for 110 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cribbs gained 99 yards on just 6 carries.
