Objectively speaking, of course, the SEC is still better, as they prove any time their better programs take on the better programs from other conferences. This happens year after year after year, so the pollsters will naturally factor that in.

I give credit to LSU and Alabama for trying. Even Georgia last year. But Washington is only decent this year, and Michigan is poopdick this year. That's not Bama's fault, though.

But you're still missing the point... the only top 15 teams that SEC teams play against are.... other SEC teams! How can we judge how good a conference is when they're all playing Division 1AA teams and each other? There really is no reason a 2 loss USCe is ahead of Oklahoma, Florida State, Clemson, etc.

You aren't seriously thinking that Notre Dame's performance at home in a one possession game was more impressive than Alabama's performance at a neutral site in a blowout... right?

Again, Notre Dame has beat everyone in front of them, but unless they want to celebrate it with an undefeated birth in the Sugar Bowl instead of the Championship game, they have to start beating teams consistently with style points. Barely winning against Pitt (a team they should have lost to, in fact) will not help them pass by anyone in the top 4.

Like NAHSTE said, the only major flaw with TAMU has been closing out games. They've stunk in the fourth quarter.

Why are you doing this? I know you have a new partnership with the ACC, and 'grats for beating Miami and good luck as you face the daunting Boston College/Wake Forest gauntlet, but they are not really a conference you should be using to illustrate an "overrated" SEC.

Defensive performance was better, yes.

Alabama didn't let in a single score until the game was a blowout. Alabama let up less first downs, less yardage, less time of possession, less 3rd down conversions, less completions on more attempts. This was with Michigan starters facing their 2nd stringers, not even Bama's first string. If Bama had to keep their starters in past... well... the first quarter, we'd be talking about letting up less points and getting more turnovers. You cannot say "Oh, well ND let up less points" when Michigan's points only came against backups. Not to mention the fact that Bama did this in a neutral site game indoors, which greatly favored Michigan's offense, while Notre Dame did it at home, outdoors, at night.

You're still not getting what I'm saying. It's not that I think the ACC is better than the SEC... its that the SEC having 5 of the top 8 teams in the country is beyond retarded. And when they all beat each other, they don't drop because they're all ranked in the top 8.

Example: If aTm could somehow beat Alabama, Alabama would stay in the top 10 (probably top 5) and aTm would jump into the top 10. But when undefeated, second ranked USC lost at undefeated 16th ranked Stanford, USC dropped to 15th and Stanford only jumped to 11th.

It happens so many times throughout the season, but not to the SEC. They all stay within the top 8.

That wouldn't surprise me, but that's an Alabama problem, not an SEC problem. We have already seen what kind of dick suckery special treatment they receive, like last year when they fell from 2nd to 4th after a loss. I don't think that would happen for any other program in the country though, other than maybe USC at their peak.

In general, I am not even saying what you are complaining about is not true, I am just wondering why you are surprised or mystified or angered by it. It makes total sense because it's a subjective poll and every shred of evidence the "jury" has to go on suggests that those other teams are not as good. If they wish to change that perception they can start this January, or next September, but we'll probably see more of the same, which is SEC domination.

Not surprised, mystified, or even angered. I said that the SEC was overrated on page one which baited you into an argument. I said it at the beginning of the year, this year an SEC team will not win a title. Alabama is not an NFL team like everyone seems to believe. I would put ND up against any SEC team in the championship game. I want an SEC team in the title game. It would be fun to come back and bump this thread all year like I did with Wisconsin's overratedness last year.
