Bull Pushing to deal Kirk Hinrich

Yeah, we don't have to tank. We're in a great position, we're a decent team, with good building blocks in a major market. We're extremely attractive to potential max free agents with an All-Star PG and one of the top rebounding centers in the league.

From what I heard, that the Bulls would need to jettison Hinrich, Deng, and Miller to acquire McGrady, I think thats too steep of a price to pay. You are getting rid of 3 regular players for cap space...a plan that has never worked in the past. I think Deng is overrated, but the Bulls might actually get something for him in return. I would guess the Bulls would have a better chance trading Deng for a future draft pick and then having that pick end up being a lottery pick than jettisoning half your regular rotation for cap space and hoping to sign Johnson and Bosh.

Rose has been effective with Hinrich at the other guard spot. Hinrich plays defense. Hinrich doesn't hog the ball like Gordon did. Noah has shown potential. I think the building blocks are there. I think those 3 guys are young and will be better than another Larry Hughes or Ben Wallace signing.

My plan is less aggressive than your plan, because the Bulls have never been able to sign "superstar" free agents.

I'd rather Deng go for sure cause Hinrich is a solid defender and can play both guard positions. However, Hinrich is the more attractive assets because he can play defense at both guard positions. So if you have to trade Hinrich than so be it.

I would generally agree. With the Salmons deal going down the Bulls have the ability to sign one max guy. IMO wanting to get two max guys is way to greedy and way too agressive/risky. I like Hinrich and think he's a good piece to the puzzle to keep around for all the reasons you mentioned.

I guess then with the money available now to go hard after one max guy I would go all out to get Bosh(the only player I really think the Bulls have a shot at), then fill in some blanks from there. If you can't get Bosh then you have to start looking into filling in with some 2nd tier guys like Rudy Gay, Boozer(Not sure what other PF's will be avilable this offseason), etc. Rose-Gay-Deng-Boozer/Free Agent PF-Noah isn't too bad with Hinrich and Gibson off the bench first.

I think there is a happy medium between going all in for two max guys and not doing anything. I'm hoping the Bulls at least make a serious run at one max guy but have a competent back up plan if they don't get one. I have very little faith in this GM regime but have to hope they do something right.

They better. They have been making deals these past few seasons in order to position themselves to do so.

If I were Chicago I'd hold on to Hinrich and Deng, because come this offseason they may make for better sign and trade bait. Also, I’m not a fan of dumping everyone in hopes of signing 1 or 2 guys.

Why the hell would Chris Bosh want to go to Chicago? We can offer more money and a team thats already further ahead then the Bulls. I dont see any reason to bolt town to downgrade your situation in every way.

Larger market by far, which would more than help offset the salary difference with increased sponsorship/endorsements in Chicago. Up and coming superstar in Derrick Rose at the point. Solid core there with Hinrich, Deng, and Noah (assuming they aren't traded before Bosh signs). Also team with deeper pockets to get more players and deal with the luxury tax if need be.

And frankly for a team that is "further" ahead than the Bulls the 2 game spread in the standings is all that seperates them plus the Bulls have made the playsoffs 4 of the past 5 seasons.

There are plenty of reasons for Bosh to leave. Not saying he will but the reasons are there.

There are also plenty of reasons for him to stay.

In terms of the talent level, I dont think that would entice Bosh to leave because both teams are fairly close in that regard. And altho theres only 2 games separating them, there seems to be this feel that the teams are going in seperate directions this year, with the Bulls obviously looking toward the off-season with 2 moves they made, IMO.

And altho Chicago itsself may be a bigger basketball market, Bosh has the whole country here behind him, and Toronto itsself is obviously a very large market. I dont really think endorsements have been an issue, dude is all over the TV up here, so hes gotta be getting his in that regard. Theres always room for improvement in that field, tho, and being a star in America isnt quite the same as being a star in Canada. But I think Chris is a pretty level headed guy and has enjoyed this city and country really getting behind him and his team. Hes literally become the face of Toronto sports.. and hes really been open lately in saying he thinks this city is now a basketball city instead of a hockey city. I really do believe Chris is also now really embracing the role of being "the man", which has lead me to believe hes not going to want to pair up with a LeBron or Wade and play 2nd fiddle (not that he'd do that in Chicago, just saying).

Don't really disagree with anything you said. Like I said Bosh has plenty of reasons to stay but honestly you don't hear Bulls fans mention anyone but Bosh because we all realize Wade and James aren't realistic options. Bosh is the only guy we really have anything to offer, ther than perhaps Wade, but not sure Wade and Rose would mesh well.

I can see Bosh coming to the Bulls but I can also see him staying.

The Bulls still having that young core really helps plus I don't think many people feel like the Bulls are going the opposite direction than the Raptors just more that they are treading water this year waiting to land the big name(s) to put them over the top, where as the Raptors already have Bosh, have made a move or two(Hedo) and really aren't doing a whole heck of a lot, nor will they this offseason compared to some teams like the Bulls, Heat, and Knicks etc that are preparing to make major moves to launch themselves into title contention with the Cavs, Celts, and Magic when Toronto won't have the resources to really do so. So while Toronto made a few moves and his having a nice season this year there really isn't much more room for them to grow and make moves in the coming offseason to match the other teams in their own conference.

Bosh may see going to Chicago for example as his way to launch himself onto a team that will be towards the top of the Eastern conference for years to come and would have some very nice pieces to surroudn himself with. Basically he may see Chicago as having a higher ceiling with him, than Toronto does and choose to make the move.
