Reggie Bush Jr.

He won't be a big time wr, but he'll be a game changer on the special teams and once in a while make some plays to keep his team in the game on offense.

The guy is a beast though, has some really nice strength on him. Not to mention the kid has heart. He just wants to play football. He has been known to get injured quite often but he always bounces back stronger than he was.

the only thing im concerned about is a 12 on the wonderlic???? is that a fucking joke??? i thought ted ginn and devin hester were the dumbest (b/c of their interviews while they were in college), but after seeing this, i think harvin takes the cake.

I think its the Reggie Bush thingy all over again. Everyone was in awe of Reggie and Percy's speed in college. Ya, but in the LEAGUE, everyone can run and he will get caught. I have never been a fan of drafting because someone was purely a burner.
 
I'm not huge on Harvin as a prospect, because dude just isn't a complete receiver and not a true RB either. Doesn't have a position and on the small side.

I usually think a 12 on the wonderlic wouldn't matter for a WR, but Harvin happens to have no previous knowledge of a standard route tree, so he's gonna have catching up to do from the get go. I don't think the test score or the positive marijuana result should affect his stock, but I understand why it will.

Either way, I didn't think he was a top 15 prospect to begin with, not a surprise to see him fall on draft day if that's how it does indeed turn out.

Yeah. I should have said he had no previous knowledge of a pro-style route tree. he might have run a basic one in high school that was 1-9 or something, but the style of route tree that is run in the pros is much more complicated. I know Florida did a lot of quick reads but they didn't exactly prep those kids for NFL style option routes. They ran a lot of
"turn around and catch the ball" plays.

wonderlic for WRs = meh

only reason not to take him is because he gets hurt way to much

The dude is gonna get his ass kicked at the line of scrimmage by pro corners. Unskilled route running and being undersized does not make for a winning combination. And a 4.41 isn't exactly "blow your mind" speed. It's fast, don't get me wrong, but people are making him out to be the next Usain Bolt.

In all honesty though, he won't "suck".. that was sour grapes after Florida beat Alabama last year (even though he didn't play, I hate everything Gators). He'll be an elite number two receiver, or a medeocre number one. I see him as a Lee Evans type.

He might be undersized but dude is fucking jacked like crazy, i'm more surprised he didn't test positive for steroids. I think he'll do fine in the pros. I'd especially like to see him go to Miami to work the wildcat as I think he would be a perfect fit for that.

I'm buying. If you are low on this guy because of the stupid wonderlic or the fact that he tested positive for marijuana then you need to have your head examined. Dan Marino scored something like a 15 on the Wonderlic, Frank Gore something like a 6, and I'm sure a ton of other great football players fall in that range, as well.

Not to mention Calvin Johnson admitted to having smoked pot before as he was interviewing with teams before last years draft.

Harvin has speed, hands, and despite what everyone seems to think he is an exceptional route runner. His acceleration off the line of scrimmage is superb.

He's not a halfback, he will line up at the wideout spot and he will be good. Great? I don't know, but he will be good, IMO.

He does have durability issues but I think he will be fine in the pro's because he won't be carrying the ball as much as he did in college.

I suspect there are more than 20 NFL all-pro players who have failed drug tests and scored 12 or under on the Wonderlic.
 
I find it funny that people always seem to complain about the combine hype but then obsess over stupid shit like the wonderlic.
 
The way that the NFL is shaping up today Percy could be utilized as a weapon in a lot of different ways. If you line him up at WR and give him quick screens or a quick slant he could be extremely dangerous. If you bomb it deep and let him use his speed to run past a corner and get the ball, he could be dangerous. If you use him on reverses and direct snaps he could be dangerous. If you put him back to return punts and kicks he could be dangerous. He just isn't a Wide Receiver, he is a weapon that could be used in a lot of different ways. I would love for him to slip into the second round and have a shot at drafting him, but I don't know if he will fall that far. But yeah I'm a buyer on Percy Harvin, the guy is a player and will make a difference to any team that gets him.
