Yes, the Bears need to risk getting one of (or multiple) Cutler, Forte, Hester, Urcharler or Peppers injured to keep a team they have already beaten this season and who will have to go to through Philly in Philly before they even reach the same playoff round as them out, so instead they can let a team that has already crushed them once and is perfectly built to do it again (the Giants) in their place.

If you were the Bears, the Saints, Falcons, Eagles and the Giants (who you would probably be letting in by beating the Packers) would be more concerning then an team that can't beat Detroit and folds when the going gets tough.

Not commenting on this Bears team specifically but I can't recall a more watered down playoff field. If they finish at 11-5 it'd have to be one of the only times a 5-loss team had a bye, right?

Apparently it is. The game could/most likely will mean nothing for the Bears.

It's not like the Bears need more film on Green Bay or don't already know they are pretty evenly matched.

I'd rather "overlook" Green Bay in Week 17 when the game doesn't matter and not get anyone hurt than try and go balls out to win a meaningless game and risk getting a key player hurt before the playoffs.

They played a 7-8 Green Bay team who was playing for a wild card spot (they ended up losing out on tiebreakers).

Bears lose 7-26. Starter QB Grossman was pulled at the half after 4 turnovers for back-up Griese b/c he was playing so poorly...it was 23-0 at halftime.

Lovie said after the game the plan was for him to play into the 3rd but changed his mind b/c of how bad he was.

Pretty sure everyone else played the majority of the game. I did see where Devin Hester left b/c of a leg injury though.

If Atlanta wins I think the Bears end up treating this like the 2nd or 3rd preseason game.

Plus that was a tricky situation with Rex. By that point the tide was turning in Chicago of people wanting to see Griese play/start. Lovie had to start Grossman and play him a decent amount IMO regardless of what happened because if Griese got the start and played well in the Bears loss or win, there would be even more pressure on Smith to play Griese and there would be even more of a QB controversey heading into the playoffs.

Griese relieved Grossman and played poorly so it didn't matter but Griese getting the start and playing well wasn't a risk Lovie could take IMO.

Plus, in 2005 Lovie sat Rex and most of the starters in a season ending game against Minnesota.

He played, but he only had 9 rushes. Benson relieved him and rushed over 10 times for 100+ yards in the loss.

Any team can beat any team in the NFL. The Browns beat the Patriots in pretty convincing fashion. That is why no one team has a clear "win" vs anybody. I am sure Philly thought they would smoke Minnesota.

I cheer for the Bears to win every game. That is why I don't go into any game of theirs with a "this is an automatic win/loss" right here. I didn't think we would win several games that we won, and then the automatic win games, we lost.
