I actually grew up a Niners fan. I became a Raiders fan when they moved back to Oakland from LA and my dad bought season tix.

I had been to several Niner games as a child and I liked the Niners until the Raiders moved back to Oakland.

The atmosphere at the very first Oakland Raider game I went to blew away any atmosphere that I had ever seen at Candlestick and that was what turned the tide for me as an 11 year old.

Heyward-Bey becomes a bust, and everyone will chastise the Raiders because they took him ahead of 3 other guys who were rated higher then him.

It was a giant reach. The Raiders wouldn't be seen as the dumbest team in the NFL had they traded down multiple times to pick him up. No one was even looking at Bey in the first 20 picks.

Suuure they were. That's like telling me that every player in the green room was praying that they wouldn't be the #1 pick because they would be going to the Detroit Lions, a far worse franchise than the Oakland Raiders.

The immense Raider hate on this site is amusing. I understand hating Al Davis, but the Raiders as a team are full of hard working players and good character guys.

Honestly its nothing like that. Lions and Raiders are two completely different organizations. If each player in the green room listed in order the teams they would want to get drafted by the most, the Raiders would be #32 on every list.

No, because the fact of the matter is that the Raiders should have been able to trade down 10 spots to get Heyward-Bey and an additional pick.

I just don't understand why everyone is assuming Crabtree is such a lock and a future hall of famer. Just because the guy caught a thousand passes at Texas Tech doesn't mean he has the ability to separate himself from NFL cornerbacks.

That's what this game boils down to at the WR position. I think Crabtree is going to be great, but it's not a lock by any means.
