The number of 1,000 yard rushers Marino played with in his career:

Marino didnt play on a team with a 1,000 yard rusher until 1996. He retired in 1999.

I'm not saying Marino was better. What im saying is simplifying the argument to rings is lazy and stupid, yet so typical of any QB debate.

Very few people say Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest basketball player of all time, despite unreal stats. They pick Michael Jordan because he got the rings.
At the end of the day, the rings count. I suspect every player considered the greatest at their pro sport was a multi-time champion.

The NBA is a different animal than the NFL. One player makes an enormous difference, although if there is one position in the NFL that is comparable it would be QB.

Marino would have chopped teams up if he had the chance to throw 8-yard slants to Jerry Rice & John Taylor and backfield flares to Roger Craig for 12 years.

Marino was a 60% passer who threw for 60,000 yards, I dont think hitting Jerry Rice in stride would have been an issue.

I forgot the number but Marino laid eggs in the playoffs numerous times against teams the Dolphins had beaten thoroughly in the regular season. As I say with the Barry arguments if you can do it in week 9 against team X your surrounding talent is no excuse for not doing it week 17/18 etc.

John Elway went to 3 superbowls during Marinos prime with just as shitty a cast. Wasnt until his 3rd trip he had a 1000 yard rusher. While Marino was throwing timely INTs , incompletions on 3rd down and screaming his head off at every one near him, Elway was dominating the conference and recording some of the most clutch drives in NFL history.

Marino cant even get out of the Elway debate let alone chat it up with Joe.
