lol this isn't a major problem for the sport.

Sure it sucks, but it's no different than a baseball organization that refuses to negotiate with Scott Boras or sign any of his clients.

Terrible judging, fighters using substances to enhance themselves, only one major promotion, modern fighters are head trauma in 10 years or so, not creating major stars are all bigger issues.

rob, Golden Glory had a similar extortion deal like M1, where they were getting a piece of the pie when their fighters were on shows. Not a purse percentage deal that individual managers cut with individual fighters, but a separate cut from Zuffa (in addition to what Zuffa pays the fighter), which was usually substantially higher than what the fighters were being paid. Who knows how much they were kicking to their fighters, but if i'm Zuffa, fuck that shit, I wouldn't do business with them either. These were sweetheart deals that M1 and GG cut with Coker because they knew they had him by the balls.

(although cutting the Techno Viking was probably out of spite, since I believe he won FOTN bonus in his only fight, which was a loss to Blueberry Muffin IIRC)

it really a travesty those bums were cut? and womens mma will always be second rate and irrevelant until the ufc starts showcasing it. wheres the top 2 most high profile women's mma fighters, cyborg and gina? no where to be found. cyborg doesnt even want to fight for strikeforce and gina is too busy making b-rate straight to dvd movies.

How exactly is Golden Glory getting a cut of the action good for the fighters? You can make a case for M1 with Fedor, since he's supposedly part-owner. But unless the Coenen and the Overeem's are part-owners of Golden Glory, its not really a direct benefit to them...?

You don't know how managers/trainers work? They all get cuts, you think greg jackson is doing this for fun?

The golden glory fighters don't have a problem with it, you don't know there set up and how much they get just like AKA, ATT, etc...

I don't here overeem complaining about money he gets and has been there for years, that's there set up

Of course the trainers get paid. But since when did it become the promotion's responsibility to do that? Does Zuffa pay Greg Jackson directly? Unless every other fight camp out there is getting their cut direct from the promotion, why should GG and M1 be different?

Zuffa was paying the fighters a small nominal purse, and paying M1 and GG a much larger number. What m1 and GG spilt with the fighter is unknown.

For example, if you look at the official reported purse of any Fedor fight, he was getting in the $30k range. SF was paying M1 something like $1.5M.

UFC never signed deals like this. They pay the fighter, and what the fighter pays the manager is between the fighter and the manager.

The issue with GG, is they were making inroads on "co-promoting" like M1 does (more like leaching off of Zuffa and slapping their name on events with their fighters, since the promotional power of M1 or GG is zero), and Zuffa isnt having that shit. So instead of being in business with M1 or GG, Zuffa prefers to be in business with the fighter and the fighter only. No middle men to complicate things. As a fighter, if you want to pay a manager, that's your business.
