Got to the Jungle.

The game went through, "WTF, Zombies on a Resort?!" to "War-torn Favela infested with the Undead?!" to "Predator... with Zombies?!"

If you can stomach going through all the bullshit sidemissions for XP/Money/Weapons and Gear, then your reward is the Jungle...

If it wasn't for the constant fear of some worm-infested asshole jumping out of a bush to gnaw on me, I'd go exploring for days there.

Now I'm at the Prison.

Real Game Spoilers for those who haven't played:

 

So Act 1 basically sets up that you aren't going to make it off Banoi without doing shit for other people.

Act 2 establishes that there's more people on the island that are being affected by the virus but no one knows to what extent.

Act 3 point blank tells you that it's everywhere and that there's probably no real hope of long-term survival as long as you stay on the island.

Furthermore, the virus that got everyone sick is man-made. :smh:

Now that I'm on Act 4 at LvL 42, I'm pretty sure the End Game is here (the game tells you as such) and not everyone's gonna make it out alive. :scared:

If/when they make this game into an actual movie, whoever plays Sam B and Purna are DOOMED.

/Law of Horror Movies pertaining to Black Folks/Non-Honkies

I'd DEFINITELY recommend this to friends for ANY system once the price drops for the Holidays.

It's just more fun than most titles out right now.

Im in the jungle and cant find my way to the russian and cell phone. (I think thats what the mission entails) I think its a big ass building but I cant find out how to get there. I see it but I just cant find my way to it with bushes and shit just blocking my way.

i havent done this on my second character, Xian yet but when i did it with Sam B, i remember driving all the around going passed the road where you kill Vargas......i remember the road splits and the map brings you in front of the village.
i think it took me a few days to figure that one out, lol. like some other ones as well

*EDIT: when you drive by the the area where you pick up 2 weapon supply boxes, head north and make a quick right.......its not far from there, without spoiling it for you

Having finished the game last night...

 

Spectacular game, SHITTY ENDING.

I thought the game got to the point of "Oh, you haven't died in a while? Here's 7-8 Walkers, gtfo" near the end of the Lab missions (complete waste of time btw)...

...the Prison ships out infinite Infected spawnpoints, 3-4 Rams in enclosed spaces (hallway-sized with no exit), 3-4 Floaters (seriously fun when 2-3 asshole Infected join the party), and all the Walkers I could eat.

Which is fine; the Prison is meant for MP consumption and probably gets harder with more people involved.

But that ending? Infinite Infected closets until the game decides to let you go face-to-face against Ryder... plus one Thug that stands in the way of the entrance while those Infected come running.

The Ryder fight's not bad as long as you soup-up your Rage meter by the end of the game... Purna's especially good because you can set that fucker on fire AND get all your health back while you use it.

I lost 4-5 altered weapons in the Jungle before the Prison (let's run down the big ass hill while we send Infected at you... GOOD TIMES) so I was down to 4 melee weapons and a shit-ton of shotguns, Shock Pistols and 2 rifles I nicked from the Police Station.

Thank Zeus they sell bullets in the Prison because I needed them.

i posted something about it earlier in thread........if you look at the whole Prison Act as the Ending as a whole, it seems to be more fitting.

I looked at those final three hallways before you reach the roof of the Prison as the same 3rd person hallways in the original Contra.

 

The game has nothing else to give you but the ending to the story but before you get there, you got prove you're worthy... and if that means you gotta go through mini-boss after mini-boss (the Floaters moreso... I've VERY surprised you don't see more Butchers after the Jungle but I see them as the final stage of the virus mutation), so be it.

It just sucks that games today can't give players a satisfying finale after all the collecting/leveling/XP and item hoarding.

I mean, I spent at least 20+ hours getting to LvL 44 and the last bit eschewed all that insistance on melee combat for guns;

I get guns > bats/knives/brass knuckles/blades but they suck so bad compared to that electric machete I've had for the past 3 Acts.

The Ryder fight should have been more than a Super-Thug Zombie with Infected speed plus his buddies if you didn't put him down fast enough... but finishing him off quick might have been the point.

I'm so happy that the game is so GOOD that I can get over all that.

I also heard there's a novel out for the game... and it's a fun read. :runaway:

beat this game couple days ago and overall it was pretty good.

 

Ending was predictable for the most part. Seems every zombie game ends with a Helicopter, a injected super zombie and a roof battle. :smug:

I have it on Xbox. Haven't made it through yet, but I plan on picking it back up this winter vacation. You should definitely pick it up.

Yeah it was a good game overall. Very long and a lot of side missions to do. The fact that it's open world is a big plus too. But the storyline in my opinion was lacking, especially the ending and there is no character connection in this game.

So in the beginning, what kind of weapons should I be using or looking for? Right now I'm just using paddles, and a pipe. JUst started Chapter 2.

Strike team transfers from saving the world from Locust and Lambent to saving a resort island from zombies. I like it.

This game reminds me so much of Bioshock. From the first person, to the pick objects up and ebat the shit out of bad guys, to looting bodies and trash cans, and even having a guy talk you through everything over a radio.

I'm pretty sure that's about all you can get in the beginning. Weapons are slim pickings. I think you can get better weapons later in the game.
