I don't know much about these prospects but Hellweg is 6'10 and throws up to 100 MPH. Pena can hit 98 both have command problems but Pena also struck out 180 in 150 IP last year.

Greinke looked great yesterday, but Hellickson and the Rays pen shut down the Angels. Greinke was 19-0 at home up until that point since 2010.

What does this have to do with the trade? What better package did the Brewers have on the table? I actually really liked this trade for MIL value wise. Scouts think Segura can hit .300 with 20+ SB's as his ceiling with average D at SS. He is just learning the pos. as well. Pena/Hellweg both are solid prospects and can be a #2/#3 SP if they can command the strike zone. Hellweg went 5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 6 K in his AA debut , and Pena pitched yesterday and went 7 IP, 1 ER, 6 K as well in his last start. Segura is hitting .445 in 28 AB's so far and 4 SB's.

With the new free agent comp. rules where teams only get 1 draft pick instead of 2 decreased the value quite a bit. We'll see how this turns out, but there was no way MIL could afford Greinke at 6/130+ which is what it could take to sign Greinke to an extension.

I agree that it's unrealistic for Doug Melvin to find a trade partner eqaully inept as Doug Melvin himself.

Obviously the Brewers got some really risky prospects here, but they're highly regarded enough to think it will work out for them. If Segura and Hellweg, aren't that far behind where Escobar and Odorizzi were ranked in 2010.
