Its a pretty retarded rule tho. I understand the penalty but if every scoring play is reviewable that shouldnt change bcus the coach was dumb enough to throw the challenge flag. Should be an unsportsmanlike penalty and a normal review like every other scoring play. Really dumb IMO.

I realize the league doesn't want coaches tossing the flag just to delay the game and give the booth more time, but you can still penalize the team and review the play. Give them a 15 yard delay of game/unsportsmanlike, and take away the challenge. That would be fine, as long as you get the call right.

Another stupid, overly complicated NFL rule, the likes of which are killing the enjoyment of this league.

Automatic replays on TO's & scoring plays have to go. It hasn't worked out, it kills the flow of the game.

Agree 100%, but people are still going to watch the game, even though it's killing the enjoyment of the league for you and for me. Sadly, we are a small percentage of those that watch the NFL.

schwartz did screw the lions by throwing the flag...but that doesnt change the fact the rule is retarded beyond belief.

i like the auto reviews, i just hate how it interferes with the game flow. just have a ref in the booth review it. there is no need to have the on field official watch the video...some are so obvious but they still take so long to make the call.

I watched that play over ten times, I still dont see who was offsides, and the flag came out 3-4 seconds after the ball was snapped.

it's a bad rule but if the Refs really didn't see his knee go down it would be better that they let the play continue. Had he not been down and they stopped the play...they couldn't give Houston the TD. Instead they gave Houston the TD, which they could bring the ball back once the automatic review showed them what really happened.

Who watched the Falcons this past week? Somebody told me Mike Smith threw the challenge flag on a play where his own player scored, and ate the 15 yard penalty in exchange for not having the play reviewed.

Did that really happen?
