And please don't take this as me being bitter or whatever... I've really come to peace with it.

Denver wasn't going to beat New England the way they played on Saturday and I don't have high hopes that play would have gotten all that better because we lost even more guys over the course of the game.

I just feel bad for Manning because of the narrative that is following.. He's blown plenty of big games in the past that were mostly on him.. Saturday it was Rahim Moore that gets 99% of my blame and ire though for the loss.

Still... It was a great four hours and while I agree with some of the tenants of the OP I'm glad I watched every second of football this weekend :yep:

The timing and just total disaster of an effort by Moore makes it much worse.

The Ravens weren't even in FG range after the Manning INT, they still needed to get 15. In the Moore situation, the Ravens were planning their vacation until Moore blew the game.

The other required another 15 yards (the game was in double OT in altitude with -3 degree temperatures mind you it's not like either team was moving the ball with great ease at this point) and a FG that was no gimme (ask Matt Prater).

I get that you're trying to minimize Manning's turnovers, and you're right that it's not all his fault. But this is how football is: QB gets all the credit, QB gets all the blame - especially when there are turnovers attached to his name. I don't think that the people you are debating in this thread are trying to put the entire loss on Manning's shoulders, either. That being said, he made a poor decision at a crucial part of the game and so now he gets to have the fingers pointed at him. It comes with the territory.

Not once have I absolved Manning for what he did in OT.

Its not like Manning was a turnover machine. The first INT was a clear PI to any objective observer..

I am not going to argue the fumble because I agree it was a fumble, I hate the tuck rule.

That said.. Denver was up seven with under a minute and Baltimore 70 yards from even being able to tie the game and did so on a play that gets made 99% of the time.

Someone choked this game away for the Broncos without a doubt but he wears #26 not #18.

When scoring is a foregone conclusion and not a difficult feat it diminishes the importance of early portions of a game. That's on top of taking away the uniqueness of it. Random wild shootout of nearly 100 pts with wild finish is becoming common. Ari/GB should still be the wildest game weve seen in years...instead we get one like it every year.

Remember the Fail Mary game with Seattle and GB? I felt that way about that game. The refs were just letting either offense march down the field. I felt like whichever team had the ball last would win and whattayaknow!

This is how people break down the NFL. It's archaic and unfair, but that's how it is.

He threw a bad pass. That means he's a loser. Thats all that matters in the world of absolutes that is the NFL.

Matt Bryant made a kick, so Matt Ryan isnt a loser anymore. Had Bryant missed, we'd all be lol'ing Ryan again for not beng a winner...despite the fact his fate was out of his hands and on the foot of somebody else.

Mike Vanderjagt missed two playoff kicks that would have won games for the Colts after Manning drove down the field, did his job, and put the team in a position to win. Kicks missed. LOSER!

Manning also lost a playoff game to the Jets where he drove the field and set up a game winner, but the Colts d allowed MARK SANCHEZ to go right back the other way for the win. LOSER.

Adam Vinatieri made kicks for Brady. WINNER!

And so it goes. NFL absolutes.

People's opinion of Matt Ryan rested on the result of that Matt Bryant FG yesterday, and it's crazy when you think about it.

I can promise you that had Bryant missed that kick, yet nothing else had changed, there would be a thread on this forum questioning whether Ryan could ever be a winner, and ESPN would be buzzing with same narrative.

Only NFL QB's & superstar NBA players are judged in this irrational manner. And to a lesser extent, coaches. Regardless of circumstance, win = winner, lose = he's a choker, dude sucks. And people act completely aghast if you question this or attempt to break thinks down with any semblance of reason. Why must we be this way? Cant we leave that surface level shit behind and look at things a bit deeper?

Glen and W2B - What are you two even arguing about and who are you talking to? Nobody here is labeling Manning a loser or a choker, except for maybe RS.

The majority of us are just criticizing him for the bad plays he made that hurt his team. I don't care how you want to slice it, he turned the ball over 3 times. Joe Flacco did not turn the ball over once.

I don't think anybody is blaming him solely for the loss, at least reasonable fans aren't, but to say that he doesn't deserve to be criticized for his play is straight up pussy shit. Every single player gets criticized, analyzed and judged. Manning is no exception.

Why you two have such a problem with this is beyond me. He really didn't play as well as he could. That is obvious. He struggled, made some bad decisions, and made some great throws. He could have played better.

Nobody is blowing this out of proportion but you two. Manning got outplayed by Flacco. That's all anybody is really saying.

Enough about Manning already. His performance shouldn't be the story. Joe Flacco's should. I was never a fan of his at all, and I still think the guys a douchebag, but that was a hell of a game. He took care of the football and made some huge throws.

Ray Rice deserves some credit, too, carrying the ball over and over again for a gain of 2 years and then being tackled by 300lber's in 0 degree weather sounds fucking miserable. He looked like a beaten man every time they showed him on the sidelines kneeling and panting for air with vaseline all over his lips haha.

I recorded both games and I will probably watch them both again before Sunday. I will remember that Broncos/Ravens game for a long, long time.
