Do you prefer to watch football alone or with people?

If I'm watching a game with anyone it's with friends or my dad. I don't care either way if I'm alone or not, although I would rather have people over.

Never been to a bar to watch an NFL game, almost did last week but ended up passing on it. I have watched a few soccer games at Irish/UK styled pubs and those have been great, but that's probably more so because only one game was going on at a time, so I could still hear everything from the game, probably couldn't get that for the 1 or 4PM games.

I did have Lions season tickets for six years and I was pretty glad to see that end. Two to three games a year would be nice, but it gets annoying going eight weeks a year. Probably because we were absolutely shit during that period, but Ford Field didn't help. Rarely gave us scores/highlights from other games, shitty gimmicks between quarters/halftime, overpriced food, etc., etc. The NFL is an experience in itself, it's annoying ignoring all those games just to focus on one, I'd much rather be at home watching the Lions game and RedZone, and eating better, cheaper food.

Just so you know, the Donut Race and 8 year old football at half time lives on.

I like watching big games with a lot of people. Regular games doesn't matter to me.

I resisted Sunday Ticket for years and was a sports bar guy. I relented about 4 or 5 years ago and usually watch the games from home now.

Both ways have advantages/disadvantages. Unlike most in this thread, I like the bar atmosphere and do miss it. I like watching wacky fans overreact and seeing the regulars every week. You end up knowing all of the regulars, but never by name. It's always 'hey, there's Falcons fan guy", or "oh fuck, my game is on the TV next to the Bears TV, so now I have to sit near smelly Walter Payton jersey guy".

What finally drove me away from the bar and into Sunday Ticket was the fantasy geeks. Can't stand them. Sitting there with their laptops, not really watching anything, and then running from TV to TV asking stupid questions like "Hey man, who scored that TD? Please say Kevin Curtis....", or "Dude, why isn't Jackson in the game? He only has 15 carries, is he hurt? IS HE HURT?". It's like, c'mon man, the Rams are losing by three TD's here, you're seriously about to catch a right cross to the jaw. Leave me alone, geek.

At one point the race was the highlight of the game. Then they decided to finish off the race with people dressed as pastries, that's when it really took off.

When I went to the Jets and Redskins games last year, the place was beyond rocking. I cant imagine how they are this season.

If I'm watching the Packers during the season, I prefer to be alone, but I live with another Packers fan here at school so I usually watch the games with him and my other housemates.

In the case of Packers playoff games, I am literally locked in my room the entire time. Nobody is allowed to come speak to me until the game is over. I had a few invites to Super Bowl parties last year, which I had to laugh at. Did they really expect me to sit and watch my team in the SB with a bunch of distracting and annoying neutral fans that are worried about the Steelers scoring 6 points in the 1st quarter for their pools? Fuck that.

If it's a non-Packers game, I enjoy the sports bar atmosphere (although my father used to take me there so I can watch the Packers games back when I was younger, before the days of atdhe and firstrowsports) and I also enjoy just watching it by myself with the chatbox up discussing the game.

There's nothing quite like going to a Packers bar to watch Packers games. unfortunately the one legit Packer bar here is too far north for me to go that often, cuz fuck paying for a cab when I have a plasma with surround sound at home and dont have to pay for a cab.

That being said, last years Superbowl at the Packer bar was the greatest day of my life. They would do drink specials every 15 minutes and the entire bar would order and toast together. it was a religious experience. For the most part though, I'd rather be in the chatbox if its a good matchup because theres nothing more annoying than "WHY DIDNT THEY CALL THE PENALTY??" guy.

I used to love Saturday football with my brother-in-law. He seems to know like every damn team and player and coach. He was a 4-year varsity tackle in high school so his takes on football are passionate while still be surprisingly intelligent (for a jock, you know). I'm more of a intellectual thinker than he is so we balance out nicely when we talk football. Unfortunately, he and my sister moved up to northern California so that doesn't happen anymore.

As for NFL games, I've never tried to watch them at a bar. I live in the LA area so 49ers fans aren't very common and I only like to drink with Raider fans if we're watching baseball (LA area Raider fans are generally Dodger fans, too).

I can be pretty snobby about watching sports, so I actually tend to enjoy watching them with people who don't know much more than to root for the team I'm rooting for. I get super annoyed when there are people who I can tell get 100% of their sports information from ESPN and they just make stupid cliche comments or say things that don't even make sense. I don't have patience for shit like that.

On the other end of the spectrum, I love to sit down for sports with someone who is clearly above my level of knowledge and understanding. I usually just shut up or ask questions while trying to soak in as much as I can. That's the best. There are some older, retired guys where I work (a private fitness/tennis club) who are awesome like that.

My impatience with annoying commentary goes further with baseball and football TV commentary. If it's someone like the Monday Night Football crew for football or anyone not named Vin Scully for baseball, chances are that I'll mute the TV and listen to music or something instead of those retards and their "color commentary."

I prefer to watch football at my place, I don't care if my friends are over or not. I don't have any preference, really.

Last year, when the San Francisco Giants won the world series, the atmosphere at the local bar was incredible. The entire bar would go silent right before every pitch and it would erupt every time anything exciting happened. It was unbelievably nerve wracking and exciting to watch the Giants throughout the entire post season.

Football is different, though. The fans are dumber, louder, and blacker, so the atmosphere is usually shitty.

The Jets game last year was pretty crazy. The Bears game was the loudest I've ever heard the place. Every single play the Bears had the ball everyone was yelling and clapping, it was awesome.

Eagles' Super Bowl vs. Pats was a disappointment to me. I went to Toronto with a friend to watch the game with a guy who lived there. We went to a bar of 2,000 people or so. I hated that Super Bowl. I am a football junkie, I want to remember everything.

When I still lived in KC I would watch the games with my cousin and uncle. If there were other people at the house, there was a strict 'No talking about shit other than what's happening on the screen' rule.

I live in VA now around a bunch of Virginia Tech and Redskin homers, so I generally like to just chill at the house with lots of beer and Sunday Ticket and pop into the chatbox every once in awhile.

All of my friends and family are Eagles fans so I don't want to watch games with them. So I rather just watch the Jaguars by myself, relax and make some food on Sundays. The whole sports bar thing isn't my thing. I've gone to one once last year and it's just too crowded and loud plus it forces me to spend money. I rather make some boneless wings and be on my couch and not have 20 people jump up and scream when the Cowboys score.
