im not as interested in this game as i expected to be. it doesnt have that same vibe that origins had. it feels like we have played this game before ala ME2 style. the story seems very good and alot of the characters are awesome.

idk, im just not feeling it right now.

one thing that annoys me is they have all those codex but they dont offer the story that u have completed in the journal. u play a game for 40 or 50 hours and you want to be able to go back and read stuff from way back when to remember wtf is going on

That's exactly how I feel. The story is there, the action is obviously great...but it's missing that "something" that DA:O had.

There is so little customization and the inventory system is whack. Do I ever need to keep the 30 fell ashes that I have collected, or do I sell them? Some things, like raven's feathers, sound important, but who knows?

I'm enjoying myself...but not nearly to the extent that I enjoyed DA:O. That game set the bar so high that anything after it would be a disappointment....even before changing the entire character management system.

Anything that goes into the "Junk" category for your gear is just vendor trash.

Haven't seen any quests that require you to trade them in so...

Sell them, get your copper.

Act 2, Templar Hall GAME SPOILER

 

I would assume that you would have to save Feynriel in Act 1 in order to do this Secondary Quest as well as send him to the Circle (also in Act 1).

When you get sent into the Fade by the Keeper, there'll be a ghostly floating book to your right.

When you click on it, it should fully materialize and allow you to use it; this allows you to put a point in ANY stat that you want (sort of like the Spirit Totem in the Fade for the Circle Tower in DA:O but with more control).

The best thing about this is you can switch to whichever party member you want to do this as well (if you want to give a point of Magic to your Healer, you can just swap to them and have them click on the book).

the only thing about the game that really pisses me off is probably 50% of the weapons (*Edit: THAT I HAVE FOUND) are bows. im a mage, and none of the npcs can use it. in other words. bioware is trying to get me to buy the dlc. fuck that. content like that should come with the game. its bullshit that they are trying to get you to buy more when you are already playing a 50-60 dollar game. none of the DLC in DAO was worth what i spent on it. just more phat lewt when i already was more powerful than anything thrown against me by the third area...

The good news is, you can find a piece of the Armor of the Fallen set once you get up the first hill with Merrill.

When you take care of the wave of spiders in the cave, there's a spot that looks like there's blue Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling.

Go in there and dig up the rubble to find the Gloves of the Fallen.

 

I am pretty sure that whatever class you are playing you wind up with a full named set that is appropriate for you by the conclusion of act 1. playing as a mage its "_____ of the spiral eye" clothwear im finding, and when i began act 2 i was handed the chest piece.

Yeah...

 

I can remember where I got the Helm but I got the chestpiece off of the Dragon you fight in the Deep Roads near the end of Act 1.

I find it funny (and somewhat refreshing) that all the badass monsters that The Warden fights in DA:O aren't shit compared to the Boss fights I've had so far in DA II.

And to have 3 of them in one dungeon, one after the other, was "great."

I'm still pissed about the lack of loot I got from killing that Big-assed Rock Wraith.

I tried fighting the 'Mature Dragon' at the end of the Bone Pit last night....got his health down to 1/4 left but damn....he just destroyed by two tanks then took out my mage and when it was down to just me took me out in about 5 seconds.

having entirely too much fun with this game. finished act 1 on my mage, had to make a new 2handed warrior on hard mode. have gone out of my way to not ruin the end of the game for myself (and thanks for the spoiler tags) and I dont want the discovery and interest to end. I killed fallout new vegas with extensive fallout wiki'ing, i wont make the same mistake with this one

I tried fighting the 'Mature Dragon' at the end of the Bone Pit last night....got his health down to 1/4 left but damn....he just destroyed by two tanks then took out my mage and when it was down to just me took me out in about 5 seconds.

I spec'd Bethany (I'm playing a Sword and Board Warrior) with Haste, Elemental Weapons and Heal (advanced it for more HP recovery) amongst other spells.

As long as you keep the Mature Dragon pissed at either you (I would assume you're playing as a Rogue if you haven't mentioned so already) or either of your Tanks, you should be fine.

Aveline's awesome once you spec her with defensive buffs and get her a better sword and shield than the one she has with her.

Also, if you have a save prepped before you start the Mature Dragon Fight, don't be afraid to leave the area and back into town... it's one of the few Dungeons I know if in the game that allow you to leave and come back later.

If you choose to go that route, you can go stock up on Health Potions/Stamina Draughts (if you have Varric with you, he needs them so he can get back to using his arrow Talents if you spec'd he as such)/Lyrium Potions.

As long as you keep your money total above 50 Gold, you can buy whatever you need in the form of better arms and armor as well to help you fight.

...something with +Fire Resistance is usually a good start.

I beat him the 2nd time I tried, I just need to start controlling my entire party like I did in DA:O, I hadn't really been doing that until this point. I just kept the dragon aggro'ing me and ran around in circles with him chasing me and my party damaging him haha.

Have any of you guys fought the High Dragon yet? That was the toughest fight for me. I was not prepared the first time I ran into it.

you can get by without actually having the 50 gold. there is a guy who will spot you the cash. in act 2, he comes back to haunt you, but, thats sort of the theme of dragon age 2, is that your past choices - both in DAO and in act 1 - have consequences. the game is all about seeing the consequences of your choices.

sorry to not spoiler tag this, but i think it should be known so people dont trip on the money.

I got my mage to the beginning of act 2, then i had to make a 2 handed warrior. the game is just way too good. i dont want it to be over so soon. i want to take my time. my warrior also plays on hard so the combat is more challenging. i use him to smack down the low hp enemies and have aveline merill and varric all using tactics to take down the highest hp enemies/debuff/control.

on my mage, i use aveline, isabella and anders. also all 3 on tactics that hit the highest hp enemies with anders healing. i use hawke to drop aoes and kill off the lesser enemies before turning my attention to the boss guys.

That's pretty much how I'm looking at the game now.

Back in Origins, I had it on Normal so as long as I had the best gear and the best spells/abilities, I never got murdered too bad (Party Wipes happen).

DA II requires me to babysit anyone not named Hawke or Aveline. :headbang:

Also, I tried kiting twice with awful results... once on the Mature Dragon and once in the Deep Roads.

Both times ended with Varric dying and a manual game reload.

Just got done a 5-6 hour marathon haha....I love the weekend.
