Everything I've read states that the majority of the game takes place in Kirkwall.

I had a 10 minute long fight with a High Dragon last night. Ended up getting over 24000 xp and a ton of loot from it. I just hit lvl 20 before the fight and was lvl 21 afterward. I used just about all of my potions and poisons to get it done.

I'm sitting at 32 hours played and I think I'm finally getting to the end. You leave Kirkwall for a few missions but 85% of your time will be spent in the city.

Game is pretty fun, I wouldn't mind spending a lot of time in Kirkwall, it's a very well designed environment.

Rock Armor for mages looks so much better in DA2.

Every time you go it feels a little different but that's because of the enemy's you face. You never really know when a fight is about to break out or who is attacking. There are different factions in each section of the city. I think your class effect who is after you but I'm not sure. I chose a rouge and sided with the smugglers and I've been fighting other smugglers and assassins all game.

It will get to you seeing the same rooms over and over but the fights will make up for it. I never had to set up my tactics and use potions this much in DA:O. You have to be real careful about the team you bring with you and what abilities you focus on.

Yeah, they do reuse environments, but nothing on the ME1 scale. Each environment is huge, and Kirkwall in particular is gigantic. You will get used to pretty much every area outside of Kirkwall because there are a whopping 2 or 3 of them, but honestly, I was hooked on the game for a solid 6 hours last night and it didn't phase me.

I will say that the Day 1 DLC with the Signature Edition was HUGE early in the game. That and getting used to the faster pace. It still feels, obviously, like it's a PC game ported, which can make aspects of combat a bit cumbersome. But after playing for as much as I have, I really can't see the complaints that these RPG fags have about it not being that RPG like.

I'm 4 hours in and it feels like I've barely made a dent...awesome. I'm really liking the archery tree so far, it's a lot different than my usual warrior tank character.

Just finished and I am not disappointed. 36 hrs 58 minutes. I ended up with a lvl 24 rouge.

im really enjoying the new look of the spells. any mages out there know if something is shit? like in origins, chain lighting was pretty lame. But in DA2 its fucking cool.

I read some of those...and you'd be an IDIOT to trust them. Most of them are 1's by either a) scorned DA:O fans that hate that they went in a slightly different direction; or b) internet trolls.

If you liked DA:O and don't mind that they did away with some clunkiness, and if you don't mind some slightly repetitive, ME1 like environments, you'll like it.

The internet makes me so irritated sometimes. It's funny the entitlement that uncreative people have when developers don't pump out exactly what their vision is. Don't like the changes? Don't buy it and go make a better version, you twerps. /rant

im not far in at all. just opened up kirkwall and im taking it all in. it is a beautiful area. the story is extremely enjoyable and the game seems to be a like a huge movie production. What i am seeing so far is excellent

I freaking LOVED that part...just be prepared to realize exactly what everyone is talking about with repetitive scenery after about your 7th or 8th sidequest.

Sidequests by the way, are some of my favorite in a Bioware game this gen.

Everything I've heard plants this game into the 30-40 hour arena as well.

I think ME1 is a good comparison in terms of length and story set-up here.

I did all of my Companion missions and probably 90% of the side missions. I wouldn't say a sped through it but I only died 4 or 5 times. Not to say it was easy, I was just prepared for each fight. I think I could have easily added 10 hours or so searching for some of the items and monsters mentioned in the codex.

 

Anders and Aveline are the shit. I basically ran the whole game with these two on my team.

I can't wait until you guys get to the last couple hours. There are a few "Oh Shit" moments.

This game was truly made for multiple play-throughs. I'm waiting until tomorrow to start my warrior run so I can move my DA:O save over to my other PS3.

Yeah I can't see myself not playing through once as each class. Plus as DLC/Expansions come out, it'll warrant further playthroughs.
