Dragon Age: Origins

Just started as a Human Noble and merked a bunch of rats with my trusty dog sidekick, Dogmeat and "Temporary Ally #33."

So far so good as we earn XP by the minute. :lulz:

So basically with the Human Noble they go with the obligatory "shady dude takes you home over" plot to begin and then we shift to "you're the Chosen One."

I like it to the point that I'm basically playing Final Fantasy again with the inception of killing monsters for XP, talking to everyone about everything and more killing mans.

...I did like the Chasind Trail Signs quest due to the fat lootz you get

Just finished it tonight...holy fuck I love this game. You know you're playing something great when you're thinking about your NEXT playthrough before you even finish your current one. I did a City Elf warrior initially, now I'm doing a Dwarf Noble Rogue....man...Love it.

Still tottering around in Lothering doing stuff for money and glory...

Ended up putting my foot in the ass of a few bandit bands and their dogs too; Luckily my trusty companion, Dogmeat, had a thing or two to say about that.

Also, I love how the game explains the main Big Bad as a force of darkness and despair (basically the evil army in every Fantasy game/book/movie) but still has room to put in GIANT SPIDERS. :screams:

Fuckers scared the daylights out of me even though I've murdered multiple darkspawn and an orge already.

Now... to retrieve Sten and take my group of merry marauders down the Imperial Highway!

I scooped up some optional party members, finished up the Chantry's tote board and helped everyone I could in the village (minus the people who needed either poisoned or regular traps).

Got me a sweet sword out of the deal.

What pisses me off is that I still got that pack of ashes that I was supposed to use out in the Kokari Wilds before the first big fight with the "Darkspawn." :screams:

I've also been noticing that Morrigan hates it when I do side quests to help people... very interesting mechanic considering in the history of all the RPGs I've ever played, no one's cared that I save puppies and collect things for random strangers.

Thank you Redcliffe Tote Board with your super-awesome quests that inform me that perhaps I should level more; even though there's no way to grind for levels aside from said Tote Board quests and Main Story missions. :bootyshake:

Leveled just a bit now through the Circle of Magi quest.

I wouldn't have done it first given the dialogue tree choices...

 

I had gone to Redcliffe Castle and fought my way up to the decision on whether or not to kill the possessed boy.

I decided that the kid was going to get help through sending a Mage through the "Fade" or whatever and that required Lyrium and some dudes from the Circle themselves.

Luckily I didn't merk every Mage in the tower dungeon as I waded through a lot of people to finish the thing... including the dream sequence

...but I'm happy I got some XP and Swag for it.

I'm now at the area where you come across a camp of Dalish Elves with a bit of a problem:

 

Werewolves.

It had to be werewolves.

I'm cool with the whole situation as long as I get free loot and a chance to build my super-awesome endgame army... but the final dungeon they send you through on this quest turns me into a quivering bitch.

 

I fought Giant Spiders before outside the Lothering camp and I hated that shit because it was cliche in the sense that almost every RPG in existance has some version of a demonic spider.

Now I come across a shit-ton of the fuckers (now in Poisonous Variety! Yea!) inside the same dungeon that I'm supposed to kill Witherfang in.

I do NOT like spiders and I don't like surround sound letting me know that I'm about to be merked by some furry clawed asshole.

Addendum: Finished the Dalish Camp's quest and am about to see what's to become of them seeing as...

 

I'm playing one diplomatic sonuvabitch and manged to settle both sides of the argument between the Elves and the Werewolves.

I didn't get the heart that the Dalish Camp leader wanted but I didn't allow him to get off scot-free for creating the Werewolf plague in the first place.

So... he died and so did the Witherfang/Forest Spirit in the end. :bawling:

I did find it funny that given the opportunity to go back to my party's camp, I found the merchant straggling about asking for a favor.

My PSN ID was logged in online and that was where I got my first taste of a full-length game shilling a DLC outright.

Said favor involves me having to download the Warden's Peak DLC to play it and I can't complete the request otherwise... I haven't even put in the code for the Stone Prisoner DLC or the Blood Dragon armor DLC yet!

Got my hands on that Cone of Cold spell finally... makes killing Blood Mages a LOT easier. :twinkle:

You should max out the spell tree with Mana Drain at the end....it makes blood mages and elves pretty much ineffective at all.

I'm a level 14 warrior (champion/templar) with a big ass sword on my back and my blood dragon armor. I can't stop playing this game.

Right now I'm doing the Deep Roads for the Anvil of the Void quest. And I just banged Morigan and Leiliana back to back. I just figured out how to give gifts, so I made a lot of room in my inventory.

Right now, if I'm not spamming Cone of Cold -> Stonefist at the beginning of a fight, I'm using Vulnerability Hex (not sure if that's what it is called... it's the one that Morrigan has to start with I believe) -> any combo of a cold/fire/life drain spell.

I'm just using the Templar specialization right now but I unlocked the Bard and Duelist ones as well but haven't taught them to the others in my party yet.

I know Leiliana already is a Bard (through some careful quote tree work) but seeing as I'm a Warrior Class to start with, I only learned the skill to share it with another character.

The Assassin and Shapechanger stuff I haven't cared to try and get and any books I could pick up to learn on my own have been shunned in favor of more armor/weapon upgrades.

As for the Gift stuff, I didn't figure that out until Lothering and even then, I didn't know that buying Backpacks would extend the amount of storage I had until I finished halfway through Redcliffe... you get two of them before you even leave Ostagar if you do it right.

TL;DR - I'm a warrior with a Templar specialization, I'm looking to expand Morganna's spell tree soon, and I love backpacks.

If you have 50-90 hours to kill...if you loved KOTOR/Baldur's Gate/Mass Effect...if you like Western style RPG's with tremendous story telling...and if you like killing hordes of undead and dragons...

Buy it. It's well worth the $60 I paid...for $40 it's a steal.

Second of all, what a long ass story line. Not a lot of action. Not my style, but I'm hoping there is more and more action the further I go.

He'll make you Star Fang, a longsword that deals massive damage and has 4 enchantment slots. My main guy is a two handed greatsword carrier, but it made Alistar almost unbeatable.

From what I've read, you grab a set of Warden Commander Armor when you play the DLC as well.

One of the best Armor sets in the game that isn't either the Blood Dragon Armor (that you get when you buy the game new) or the Juggernaut Armor (that you get when you merk all those Reverants in the Brecillian Forest for a side-quest).

Of course you could get that Wade guy in Denerim to make you a set of armor but that would require a lot of dead dragons.

I got 2 sets of armor from Wade.

If you want the 3rd, you need to kill Flemeth and the dragon at the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

I got this game for the ps3, any tips for the beginning of the game? I dont mind spoilers, i already know alot, i just dont want to do something thats gonna piss me off later in the game
