I agree, their offense was not that crisp. Wayne didn't look great and he was struggling to get any big plays out of his guys.
My point is a counterpoint to you saying... "it's all on him"
Clearly it's not as he has no control over what his defense or special teams do. It just so happened that on this game his defense gave up a record-tying performance and his special teams failed on what was one of the biggest plays of the game and probably the biggest momentum swing.
I'm not trying to say Manning is free of blame, he's not. I just can't stand football fans and their obsession with one-game hyperboles, where each game can swing a guy all over the place.
If the Colts don't have Manning, where are they?
Give them a run of the mill QB that doesn't play the "field general" role.
A division winner? Probably not.
A playoff contender? That's a stretch.
Manning is the reason they are so good and he should be the reason they should win a superbowl. He shouldn't get them there and let his team do the rest cause that's only worked once in what...nine playoff runs?
They were head and shoulders above the Bears team and if it wasn't for Rex retardation they may not have come away with a W in that one.
All I'm saying is, if you want to talk about the
GREATEST QUARTERBACK OF ALL TIME then he should do things equal, if not better than what other worthy candidates do.
In 2 attempts on the biggest stage of his life he's played worse than his brother, doug williams, jake delhomme and (arguably) trent fucking dilfer.
You can't honestly be the GOAT QB because of dominance throughout weeks 1-14 (Cause how often does he play or play hard in weeks 15-17?) and above average post season play.
Sorry but no.
