2. Manning I have ahead of him because he is pretty much lapping the field statistically even in this era and is winning a massive amount of games. Montana didn't really set the standard. Guys like Starr, Luckman, Bradshaw, Graham, etc all had long stretches of championship success before Montana came along. Montana was next in line but let's not pretend Montana was the first QB of a dynasty to win multiple ships on some good/great teams.


If you want to put Montana at #1 then that's fine. You'd have a strong argument to do so but I think for anyone to just act as though there aren't some other REALLY good candidates or guys that coul dmake equally good if not better cases for the spot is just not true.

Knubb...no one really put any merit into what Nuk said. I remember before Drew Brees, Nuk had it in for Rich Gannon. Week after week of Nuk proclaiming that Gannon was "overrated" and a "jerk" ended with the Raiders going to the Super Bowl. When they lost to the Bucs, Nuk said "see? told you so".

Brees is really good. Manning has been better for a longer period of time. Thats my simple take on it.

I'm not going to defend or excuse anything anyone else has said. Only what I have and you have jack shit on me. I have not given Manning a free pass and haven't said anything that could be taken as such. My obvious initial point was that it's a bit much to say Manning is hitting some sort of age bound wall when you actually look at what he's doing in context of the team around him.

If you're gonna look at things statistically I wouldn't look just at there career numbers. Look at it season by season. Statistically Montana blows Elway away. Elway led the league in pass yards once. That's it. Montana led the league in completion % 5 times, touchdowns 2 times, TD % 2 times, and Y/A 1 time.

Favre would still come out on top of a lot of those because he has played at such a high level for so long. He's only had one losing season out of 20.

This doesn't make sense when comparing Elway and Montana etc. It's not like Elway hung around to just compile stats and passed Montana or other guys. Elways last four years were arguably the best of his career. The opposite could be(sort of) true of Montana who had two marginal to above average seasons at the end in Kansas City.

The stat compiling argument doesn't really hold any weight in regards to a lot of these guys simply because you had very few guys ranked in the top 5-10 stats wise that hung around and put up empty stats for any real number of seasons.

Favre would still end up at or near the top because he was so productiove for so long. You're talking about a guy in 20 seasons that has really only had four or five average to sub par years and many more above average to great seasons statistically speaking. It would more than balance out in the end and still skew towards Favre having season average numbers that would be at or near the very top all time.
