I doubt that all of Brown County has such a short memory, or ignores the entire history of the GB Packers. I doubt that all of Brown County would disagree. Packer fans are usually pretty football literate, and have a fair knowledge and respect for their teams history.

I don't disagree with you on that, but Bart Starr was a quarterback for the Packers, while Brett Favre was a legend.

I've lived in Green Bay for a long time and worked in the Packers organization for a little over a year now. When you walk down Lombardi Avenue and ask who the best Packers QB of all time is, 90+% of them will say, Brett Favre.

When GB won there 3 championships in a row, Horning and Taylor were gone. GB relied more and more on the passing game. Go back and look at Starr's performances in clutch and playoff games, he excelled. Clutch and playoff games is where Brett had his struggles. And he had some major struggles in playoff games.

Brett = Great regular season QB, not so great in playoffs.
Bart = Great clutch and playoffs. When it really counts.

Go look up the post season/clutch game stats. It's not even close.

Sorry, as great as I think Brett is, Bart > Brett.

You're 40+ YEARS beyond Starr's career and he's still one of the most popular Packers in GB history. The fans had a huge love affair with Starr as well, and still do, 40+ years after his career ended.

We are watching Brett's popularity go down in GB. That's a shame. He pretty much brought that on himself.

He may get hurt, but I don't see him retiring until after the season is over. You really think Chilli will have the gohonas to bench him?

If Brett's are is strong enough, and Minny coaches can keep him in check, he should be good for your team. Of course I don't want him to do well, but that's just because I don't want to see any Viking, Bear or Lions QB do well.

He wanted the Packers, the Packers didn't want him. Nobody has the right to tell him to retire when he still wants to play, simply because of his legacy in Green Bay. Montana went from an NFC team to an AFC team, not to one of the 49'ers rivals. And wasn't he traded? Did Montana retire, then wait until just before training force a late comeback in order to be release so that he could go to a heated rival?

Also, in no way is Favre a traitor. He wanted the Packers, the Packers didn't want him..

Brett wanted the Packers on his own terms. McCarthy and Thompson ran the team on there own terms, not Brett's terms. Brett couldn't get his way. So Brett wanted out of GB. Hence the fake retirement. The un-retirement was Brett trying to force GB's hand to release him. His whole Gretta infomercial wasn't Brett wanting to go back to GB, it was Brett trying to get out of GB and onto the Vikings. This is nothing like Montana being traded to the Chiefs. Montana didn't go about trying to force a release to join the Cowboys. Completely different.

Nobody has the right to tell him to retire when he still wants to play, simply because of his legacy in Green Bay.

Brett's the one that decided to retire. I think it was a ploy from the beginning. Brett didn't like management because they weren't giving him the preferential treatment. They wanted him in camp and OTA's. They wanted a decision before FA and the draft. They wanted to run the team. Brett was getting his nose out of joint because the GB org was trying to reel in the special treatment.

Favre's jersey is still #2 on the Packers sales charts. The ignorant fans think he is a traitor, but then again, the ignorant fans are also the ones saying he is the best quarterback of all time.

The Viking's press conference was just today. Wait a little while. My guess is his GB Jersey isn't nearly as popular as of today. Not as popular as it was yesterday.

Brett's behavior since the breakup is giving more credence to the GB org during the breakup. To much of this seems to have been orchestrated by Cook and Farve. That's not ignorance. Starr will never be seen as a traitor or prima donna. Brett's hurting his relationship with GB fans. I hope it blows over and people forget these past few years, but he is hurting his legacy in GB.

Did you see him? He had a belly. He's not working out like he should. He's not keeping himself in very good shape. Throwing footballs to high school kids is not the same. He's starting to look more like Billy Kilmer.

Mike Cameran keeps himself in good shape. Brett, not so much.
