All his career he has been containing the outside run and being an edge rusher and then in his brief stint as a 3-4 OLB he dropped in coverage.

As a 3-4 DE He would need to gain 50-60-70 pounds and change his entire mindset. He would pretty much have to completely start over as a football player.

At least as a 3-4 OLB he has some experience. I can tell you right now if he doesn't play 3-4 OLB then he'll be either traded or released. There is absolutely no chance that he'll be a 3-4 end.

Yes there is a difference between a 3-4 DE and a 4-3 DE, but that doesn't make up for the fact that Andre is best when he is right on the line. He is best at rushing the QB and getting into the backfield. If you watched him while he was in WAS, he's always one of the first players in the backfield. He can disrupt the interior line just as well as anybody.

He's already good at what he does.. Why change it? Defensive Line was probably the only thing on the Redskins that did not need to be touched, they had the perfect trio of Carter/Haynesworth/Daniels going into next year. If any part of defense should be changed, it should be the pass defense considering we were one of the last ranked pass defenses in the league last year and gave up more 20+ yard pass plays than any team in the league.

There is a HUGE difference between a 4-3 end and a 3-4 end. One i don't think you understand. Unless your the Cowboys, as a 3-4 end for the most part Andre Carter would just be a 2-gapper. That is NOT what he does. He could still easily contribute in nickel and dime situations as a pass rusher, but i know Carter is making pretty good money and no way they only use him in those situations. He'll have to contribute on the starting defense as well if he wants to be on the team and that won't happen as a 3-4 end but it can as a 3-4 OLB.

I was also saying if he in any way he realistically will be playing as a 3-4 end is if he does bulk up which obviously gaining that much muscle mass in a few months and learning an entire new position while still being an impact player is entirely unrealistic.

I also didn't directly say 320 is what you wanna be. When i started talking i didn't google Andre Carter to find his playing weight. I assumed he was around 240, he's in the mid 250's. But, yes, anywhere from 280-320 is usually how big a 3-4 end is. A 5 technique de is not gonna easily convert to a 2 gapping 3-4 end.

Probably.

He's huge, extremely athletic, strong, and has crazy quicks for such a big guy. I think he could play anywhere on the 3-4 line.

Haloti Ngata plays 3-4 end and he is 360 pounds. Haynesworth is a tremendous pass rusher who i think could do well in a 3-4 scheme where he plays end. He will be what Shaun Rogers will be in Clevelandthis year, that guy in the 3-4 set that collapses the pocket and gets pressures. Sure he wont be on every snap and he probably wont try every snap but it could work if his head is there.

I also think haynesworth would prefer to play end in a 3-4 scheme as he could rush the passer as oppose to just holding up two offensive lineman.
