I have a fair understanding of the tuning, but I get lost on the springs and damper settings. There are 2 extremely in depth tuning guides on GTPlanet that someone wrote up, but I haven't read too far into it because they are each several pages long.

Yeah the Montoya one I had was at like 866 or something, so I figured I'd spend the 500k on another one, as long as I made sure I got 1st to recoup the money, plus another half mil :smug:

Just whooped ass on the Historic Cup Race #2.........jumped to the inside line at the start and got lucky on the first turn and ended up in 1st and held on to it for the rest of the way...whew.
 
Damn, even with the tune from GTPlanet I'm still struggling with the RX-7 event...I had the line on the Skyline to win on the final turn, then the douchebag 300ZX moved over and I slammed right into the back of him :mad:

I think I'll get it this time, I started running sub 1:00 laps towards the end and I know there is 3-4 more seconds I can gain
 
This is the deal breaker for me. I know GT5 is very heavily geared towards the "gear heads". LOL. Meaning I know all the tuning and add ons are a big selling point. I know I would be completely lost with that shit so before I waste one of my Amazon gift cards is there some kind of auto option for tuning for newbs like me?

GTPlanet.com has all the ubernerds that fine tune the cars, most of the tunes I post I just take from there.

Also, there are driving aids you can turn on (Traction Control, Skid Recovery Force, Active Steering, and Active Stability Management)

Fine tuning the cars can be difficult, and I don't think any of us here are experts at it, but the game does have some helpful guides that tell you what can do what, etc. Really though it comes down to driving, hitting the right racing lines, then the fine tuning comes after that. The game also has a driving line to help you out when to brake so you don't slam into the wall all the time.

You will be find in this game.......if you have the time, and we all know you do, you will have a good time. Like Beeeeer, I hit GTPlanet a shit-ton for tunes and stuff, and there's so many people around the world playing the game, you will never run out of resources.

The cars themselves are still fun to drive, its only when you want to do special races, or set personal goals that you end up trying to fine tune everything.
 
Holy shit........the Chrome Line R8 with racing tires and an Oil change is a 555 HP beast! I just took it to the Cape Ring original circuit for the Scwharzwald Series, and burned the competition by 30 secs, and that was with me fooling around a bunch of times testing the limit of the car.

The car just flew threw he turns, and drifted when you wanted her too and amazing grip monster especially with the tires.
 
My '02 Audi RS 6 is so fucking boss... not the wagon deal... the one that looks like the A6 fucked an S4 and made little Audi babies... so fucking sexy it looks exactly like my S4 I have in real life... I still want that '03 Audi S4 tho if anybody can find it

It should have been a lot closer for first but I lost it on the last turn of lap 1. I held the pace with him, but he was already 15 seconds ahead :(

Well, not to mention my many other mishaps on that last turn.

I was in 3rd holding pace as well.......and then I damaged my left front wheel and got a 5 second penalty on the same error.....dropped to 7th and only managed to get to 5th.
 
I started out hot, then got caught up around a corner with the pack, instead of sitting back and letting up and waiting for somebody to inevitably fuck up on that turn I was the asshole that tried to push it... 10 seconds in penalties on that one turn :smh:
 
Piss on the Bonus 2 RX7 race..damn Bathurst....think I'm gonna settle right now for a gain of a grand and 24,750 points. May go back if I have time before the 12th. Right now moving on to the 'tang!
 
Yeah you gotta drive the crap out of the car and take all of the track you can to keep speed in the turns. It sucked, but if you can start lapping in the 1:00.xxx range or less consistently you'll be able to win.

I am in the same predicament as you for the Focus race, I cannot get better than 2nd on that one. I hate the Rome track, so it doesn't help that I don't even want to do the challenge.
