His age plays into that though. Lets not act like Weeden is going to play till he's 43 just because he started at 28. Everyone knew when he was coming out he had 7-8 years tops in the league and that would be pushing it. He's got probably 6 years left maybe and he's not even begun to develop into a successful QB. There isn't a single HC in the league who's calling Cleveland asking for the chance to develop him only to have him play 3 years once he's actually developed. And that's if he develops in 3 years which is extremely fast for an NFL QB.

im not talking about how fast or how far he can develop. i simply stated he is young and can be developed...meaning he has little experience and can be developed. how much he can improve and how fast has nothing to do with what i was saying.

Fact of the matter is he is 29. He hardly has much time left to develop much less use any skills that he can develop. IF he does develop, and thats a big if, the browns will be able to use him for a year or two tops. How would this be a positive factor that would lure any coach to the Browns, much less Jon Gruden? Ya come on with this age shit still, Browns looked significantly better on offense this year and their best WR was a rookie that went in the supplemental draft. They are stuck in the best division in the NFL as well, so it's hard to gauge just off wins but from what I saw they looked better.

If he's not a top15 QB by the time he's 31 do you honestly think they're gonna keep running with Weeden? No they're gonna give up where as guys like Mark Sanchez and Alex Smith who come into the league get 5 to 6 years to prove themselves.

I would say if he develops well he would be in the top 15. It's not like that's hard to do in today's NFL. I don't think he's lacking potential, and that makes his age of 29 moot. You seem hell bent on just arguing for the sake of arguing about this though, so carry on.

what makes the browns job any less appealing than any other? weeden is young, but has skills. he can be developed. they have a good core group of young players. they have a dedicated owner finally who has the money to pay him. sure the history has been shit, but you have to throw that out the window when talking about a new owner who is hungry to win

I don't really think he's scared of it. He came into Oakland and TB both in bad QB situations. I think the guy is just content with the slowed down lifestyle. I mean, this is hardly the only time he's turned down a job. The NFL has had more "above average" QBs now than ever, and he's still kept his name out of serious talks of taking a job for years

I'm also tired of the "Dungy's team" BS. People make it out like Dungy's Bucs would have been back-to-back SB champs if not for missing a bus or something, when in actuality, they got their shit pushed in at the Vet the two years prior.
