hence why i said the refs made a bad call....they probably didn't notice what the hell was going on to watch the knee.

1.once blocked it now becomes a fumble.
2.now that its a fumble the holder doesn't need to be touched to be considered down.

Wow, you are really grasping at straws here. The refs made the correct call, yet to you they made a "bad call" (albeit correct) because they probably didn't watch the holder's knee?

LOL at "he is no longer the holder when the kicker kicks the ball"...huh? So, on a fake FG, the holder should really be down when he is snapped the ball and his knee is already on the ground because he is not really the holder, because the team isn't really kicking a FG.

Regardless of what happens, when the holder kneels down to receive the snap, his knee does not make him down. On the play in question, the holder never stood up, grabbed the ball, then kneeled back down. He was still kneeling down when he grabbed the ball, and, by rule, he is not considered down.
 
B/c his knee never came off the ground, he is still allowed to touch the ball with it remaining a live ball.

The play never died.
 
This guy has less of an argument than ramjackson29 did about parity.

You keep missing the one MAJOR point. He is still considered the holder because he didn't get up, then get the ball, then go to his knees. If he did that, then it's a whole different situation. He was still considered the holder, making it a completely live ball, not dead.
 
It's basic football knowledge...

it's not really hard to comprehend that once the ball is Kicked(leaves the holders hands) the Holder is no longer the holder..there for normal rules apply for him as it would on a handoff or catch...
 
Jimmy is right. Under Federation rules (High school, except for Texas who does not follow them) a FG follows the same rules as a punt.

The holder can have his knee down so long as it is a kick formation (7 yards back). This includes for a fake. This only applies if he receives a snap directly.

However, once the ball is kicked it is now a new play rules wise. If the ball is away, it's treated as a punt (which can score points), if it's blocked, it's a fumble...or just a shitty kick, it's a fumble.

Since on a fumble the holder does not get the ball directly (it isn't snapped to him) he is down once he picks up the ball.

This according to a coach on staff who used to officiate.
