Has an End Boss ever ruined a game for you?

didnt ruin the game but the final boss in uncharted 1 was lame. awesome epic game ended with a crappy boss battle that consisted of quick time events. last boss of bioshock seemed a little out of place. for the most part you faced normal looking splicers and the last boss was some huge giant mutant looking mfer that was way too easy to beat.

The last boss was easy, it was the thing that came out of the ground that drove me crazy.

It took me nearly an hour to beat it, running around eating everyone I could...then jacking a chopper to hit it with missiles.

I agree. The last boss wasn't too tough. But that thing that came out of the ground (I think it was originally some chick?) was a fucking joke. The only way I could beat it was to use cheese tactics and hide behind a billboard and occasionally do that body bomb drop maneuver.

But back to R&C, the thing that sucks so much is the money system. For those that don't know you constantly earn "bolts" when you smash boxes, enemies, plant life, etc. You use those "bolts" to buy new weapons and upgrades. The weapons are usually pretty pricey so you have to be choosey. You could replay levels over and over to RPG-like grind to earn money but you was to do that tedious shit? You could also earn extra bolts by competing in these optional hover board races and such but they are the worst part of the game and the controls are horrible.

The worst part of this whole system is that when you die and respawn at the last check point you don't "start over". Whatever ammo you used from your special weapons is still depleted meaning you have to spend bolts to restock. It particularly sucks against the final boss because I started out with around 70K bolts and now I'm below 20K after dying so many fucking times. One you're out of money you can't restock your ammo so you're basically fucked.

I am proud to say I kicked R&C:SM ass. Having a clear head and also grinding a bit to upgrade a few weapons and I beat that bitch on my first try.

Double Dragon III for NES was damn near impossible to make it past the first level.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3 made me almost quit. Didn't know there were no places to buy health left before the final boss...had to use a technique called the Flying Swallow multiple times to defeat him.

Oh yeah, and the hard three bosses from Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero. Unhappy Angel in the S14 Nissan, Speed King in the Nissan Skyline and the final zodiac White Charisma in the Mazda RX-7.

All were impossible to beat in a flat out race. You had to either get lucky with the timing of the start of the race(in the middle of a turn) or hope that you can get them to have a serious crash.

Funny that I posted about Gears of War 2 back when this thread was first made and I would now say Gears of War 3 as well. For all the awesomeness of the Gears series, the bosses sure have blown ass since Gears 1 and RAAM.

Mile High Club(CoD4) took me at least 100 tries. I beat it twice once I got my route down pat.

yeah that mission was tough. I played it on Veteran and I remember it only gave you a minute or so.

I remember getting to the last guy in the plane and when I tried to shoot him in the face I ended up shooting the hostage and having to start over. Needless to say :rage: 'ed so fucking hard. funny thing is once you get it down it almost gets easy, I felt like Neo running through the Matrix the way I was knifing and spraying dudes in that plane.

not sure how many guys have played Fight Night Champion.

is an absolute bitch to deal with, especially if you're like me and you play pretty much every game on the highest difficulty. When you beat the guy though the feeling is great - hard to explain because I don't usually get THAT pumped over virtual reality.

Assassins Creed II, this stupid fucking race. I have no idea why it gives me such a headache, but I have never got past it, and because of it, I am stuck on AC2. I stopped trying about 6 months ago because I was ready to throw the controller out the door.

Prototype boss as well. Fuck that stupid thing coming out of the ground. This was one of the first games other then a sports game and Assassins Creed games I played, and I enjoyed it a lot. Then I got to that bitch and ruined the game. The game wasn't mine and had to give it back before I could beat it.

FuckingAright! I never did beat him. Funny, I beat PunchOut for the Wii in a couple of hours...... Spent the 3rd through 6th grade trying to beat that motherfucker! Alot of original NES games were like that for me though..... Rambo, Mario 2, Top Gun.... feel a headache coming on.... gotta stop.

I've played San Andreas through to the last mission at least three times. But I can never beat the last level, as I just don't have the patience to wade through that game, especially without a checkpoint.

Jerec with a bitch in Dark Forces 2, as he could keep running and regenerating his health. Took me quite some time, especially as a 12 year old, to beat him.

In my favorite RTS game Warzone 2100, at the end of the second "chapter" (there were three total) you had to evacuate your forces while holding off an assault on your base. That was a pain in the ass, as you had enemies coming from all sides.

For the same game, about halfway through the third chapter, the enemy had a power that could take control of your structures and units. While they were attacking you, they were taking over and destroying your buildings and you had to research the tech to stop the takeover. That was a tough one.

I also stopped playing the first Assassin's Creed at the de Sable assassination mission, because the game just got too repetitive. I also agree with whoever said races- no matter how simple it is, it sucks because you have to run right through the middle of the gates.

But, what my experiences tell me, and what the rest of yours tell me, is that games aren't relying on boss battles near the end anymore, which is a shame. They are instead making things difficult throughout the game, which is nice, but I still miss a good boss fight. Very few games have that anymore.

ive never met a boss that has ruined the game for me because if its too hard I enjoy the challenge and if its too weak then I finish the game

now endings are a completely different story
