Lucky? McD hand picked Orton as the QB he wanted, over Jason Campbell and whoever the hell else we were offered in the offseason. He knew who he wanted to play QB and got him. I don't call that lucky - McDaniels is a damn fine QB coach and personnel evaluator.
And Glen, don't forget we were able to trade one of our first round picks next year to move up for Alphonso Smith this year.
Orton pretty much fell in his lap. There was talks of him having to compete to start before camp, so it'd be pretty ridiculous to think McDaniels hand picked Orton out of the bunch. When Cutler was going to Chicago, McDaniels obviously wanted a QB to compete and replace Cutler.. Orton was the option. McDaniels has done a good job with him but he wasnt "hand picked" by any means at all. Matt Cassell was "hand picked", it just didnt work out for McD.
