IF he looks good in the Super Bowl and wins the game, the front office will give him pretty close to his demands rather than risk the backlash of fans worried about their defending the title this fall.

I like to take any morale victories I can out of Patriots' defense blowing huge ass cheeks in playoffs.

A couple of years ago, Sanchize beat up on the lowly Julian Edelman/Arrington/Butler secondary of New England and earned himself a few more years with the Jets. That, in my mind, was the best case scenario if you were to lose to the Jets because it meant the Jets would be having a below average offense while their defense was elite. If they had a great QB, they'd be unstoppable.

Now, Joe Flacco beats up on Arrington and Marquice Cole and is now going to earn a bloated contract, while the Ravens defense starts to slowly get worse. I'm not saying Flacco is bad -- he's a very solid QB -- but investing that much into him will hurt the Ravens in the long run. If the Ravens got Flacco for a good value deal I'd be very worried.

Or the 49ers just flat out rape Flacco and he gets franchised and this is moot :shifty:

In the last 2 games, I'd say Flacco was the MVP of both. If we win and he continues the way he's playing, I can't forsee him not being the MVP. Which would basically bind Ozzie's hands to what Flacco wants. Because I don't think Ozzie wants to be the guy who franchises the Superbowl MVP, leading to a hold out. Then the fans split 50/50 and turn on "Money Grubbing" Flacco and "Penny Pinching" Ozzie.

Do I think Flacco deserves 20 Mil a year? Hell no

That kind of contract is for HOF caliber players.

But you have Sam Bradford (15.6M), Phillip Rivers (15.3M) and Michael Vick (13.9M s) making far more then what they deserve. Flacco made 4.6 Mil this season and he has them in the superbowl. He definitely deserves a raise to around what Rivers is making without a superbowl ring. Now if he gets one... I think he would be around the 17M area.

He's got a career passer rating of 86.3, that's pretty darn average. People seem to think he's taken some kind of leap this year but just a few weeks ago if you asked people if the Ravens should even re-sign Flacco you would have gotten some mixed reactions.

Franchise the guy and let him prove he can keep up this level of play and carry his team. No reason to give him guaranteed money if you don't need to.
