I'm as suspicious as anyone when it comes to roids but with Pujols I'm on the innocent until proven guilty side. He's played most of his career in a testing era. There have been numerous investigations, reports etc and nothing has named or even mentioned Pujols that I can think of. I'm all for "where there is smoke there is fire" but there's no smoke around Pujols at this point.

That is what was being discussed, not exactly hard offers thrown around.

Basically it was LoMo for Shields with junk on both sides thrown in or Gaby for Wade Davis with junk on both sides thrown in...shit that precluded the free agency period.

Doubtful they trade LoMo unless they get something high end. If they sign Pujols, they'll move Gaby for whatever they can get, I gather. Probably a 4/5 pitcher and some bonus trash. I am sure he'd prefer to go to Tampa so he doesn't have to move...but, one if his bestest boys plays for Milwaukee, which has an open spot at 1B.

That's not indicative of anything though. Who can say he wasn't on HGH starting in junior college?

I'm just not comfortable in 2011 saying that anyone is definitely clean. And even though he was around in the testing period, he was around in the steroid testing period that is like still 10-15 years behind the times. Still no blood tests, still no HGH, etc.

I'm not saying I think Pujols is guilty, I'm not at all, but it's very, very tough to say any of the top sluggers in the 2000s was clean because most weren't.

That's also my point that Pujols was probably older than he said. Those are 18-19 year old Alex Rodriguez. Pujols looked like a grown man and had pretty much fully developed by the time he was 21-22.
