how you gonna have MW2 at 20 and have games that came out at the same time that are killed by sales of MW2 be ahead of it. Games like F3 that are a sequel of previous version, just like MW2 is. nobody is playing that game online. L4D which had a horrendously short and weak SP mode and not even close to the greatness of MW2 online modes.

In no order the top 10 based on their rating will most likely be GTA IV, Halo 3, Fallout 3, The Orange Box, Bioshock, Mass Effect, CoD4, Gears, and then 2 more.

#25-11 are pretty bad though. I have no idea why they would put Dead Rising, Lost Odyssey, and Geometry Wars are on there.

I don't agree with a game like Borderlands being above MW2, but your reason of it being because MW2 outsold them or is being played more as to why it is better is stupid. I think a lot of games are better than CoD4 or MW2, and I'm guessing most of them didn't sell as well. You ranted and raved about your personal preference like it makes you "in touch". Maybe they just like these games and would recommend these games more? It's not that hard to suggest that.

Still, in my personal opinion, some of those games wouldn't sniff a top 25 list of my own. Although oddly, my personal top 25 for 360 would have MW2 right around where it is in this one.

1) Sales are irrelevant, advertising makes sales, subject matter makes sales...but great games aren't defined by sales.

2) "why isn't X game above Y game! Y game was stupid!" Just because you aren't interested in a game doesn't mean it sucks or is worse than a game you like.

You have to view the game as to when it came out, not how it stacks up NOW or else every old game every made wouldn't stand a chance. You also have to take into considering your own interested in the subject matter and genre


For example, Halo 3 did a ton of things VERY WELL....but I hated that peice of shit. Great game, I just didn't like it. Not that I'm defending this list, just responding to some of the comments in here.

MW2's SP wasn't that great, MW1's was far better. MW1 was king shit with MP, MW2 is simply just adding on rather than creating something awesome and new. Therefore MW1 should sit in the top 10 and is why MW2 is rated lower than it's predecessor. That certainly makes a ton of sense as when MW1 released, it was far greater than MW2's release. MW2 is nothing more than an expansion pack to MW1 if you really look at it.

Lost Odyssey was great at what it is, JRPG's certainly aren't popular amongst the types of gamers on this site so it's not surprising you all hate on that shit.. I still wouldn't include it on this list myself, but still it is what it is whether you like the genre or not, and that's a very good JRPG.



IGN is corrupt as fuck, so I would expect Madden to be up there...

I'd bet good money that Mass Effect is top 2, if not number 1. They did a release last year of their top 25 or 50 games on consoles and ME was #1 then and I don't know if anything has come out to take it's spot.

another moronic post by seth....gee what a shocker. Sales, popularity and staying power is the only standard by which people can use to judge a game in all time rankings. This game has mega sales, which that by itself would not make it better than most games. Add popularity to that and then you cant deny that its a better game. throw in its staying power and you have one of the top games of all time.

a game can suck and still have great sales, so that doesnt make it a better game. But if its got great sales and everyone plays it, then that does make it a better game.

actually, sales do matter....just because you dont think so doesnt mean its relivant. Sales are the industry standard. Most games DONT have good marketing. The reason a game like MW2 had alot of pre release hype was because of MW1.

that said, sales alone do not define if a game is great. But as usual on this site, people take everything so literally and run with it without thinking about what was actually posted.

Is this an "All Time" list for the system, if so, it doesn't matter when a game came out....the duration is "all time" not just confined to when it was released. MW2 should be higher than L4D because even if one thinks the multiplayer is the same quality, SP goes to MW2. Gears was a great game but compared to some games now....it falls short....which ones those are is your opinion.

Now if this is about influential games for the system, Gears would be most likely 2 behind Halo.

Madden10 is more popular then NHL10

NHL10 is miles above Madden10.

So yeah, sales really doesn't mean much. Neither does popularity. Take this forum for example. Vast majority of people would have madden10 in their lists most likely. And NHL10 would be no where to be found. Does that mean it is a lesser game?
