It's more than just the season he had. Look at the quarterbacks around him. It's not like I'm saying Matt Ryan or Jay Cutler is greater than or equal to Brady. I'm comparing him to legitimately the Top Five quarterbacks of the NFL and saying he isn't of that ranking anymore. Yes, I understand that Brady has the history, the rings, and all of that. I do believe he is of the better quarterbacks in the league. However, he's is not one of the best.
Also, towards the end of the season, Brady seemed to get worse, which is funny because people began saying "Brady's Back" by mid-season. Given, the end of the season for the Patriots may have been the toughest, but he actually shat himself in the playoffs and lost in the first round for the first time, ever. I understand the severity of his injury, but he went backwards, not forward.
True. However, the bulk of Brunell's work is for about as long as Brady has been playing.
I'm not saying Esiason is similar to Bradshaw. But, I'm proposing the idea that championship don't make a quarterback better.
Brady's worst year is his first season with the Patriots. It's similar to one of Brunell's better years, for sure, but looking at their seasons, they are similar. Brunell never threw the ball as much as Brady did, so I can't compare them on raw stats alone. However, in terms of percentages and ratios, they're similar.
I took the worst and best years away because inflation happens that way. It's essentially the "Hall of Fame argument" when comparing players and their similarities, so I used it here to compare these two. It's fair to do considering their years are fairly consistent (excluding those awkward years with Brunell where he wasn't starting). I can see where it becomes difficult to compare him to Brunell with that huge season Brady had in 2007, but certainly without that, they're comparable.
Fine. Let's say they're not fair to compare. Would you at least say McNabb, who I mentioned before, is a fair comparison?
