AP - Pittsburgh, PA - One concern for Cleveland, was the production of Kelly Shoppach, who returned to the starting line-up a day after being released from the DL. Shoppach who has been waiting to clear the DL has traveled with the team during their nine-game road trip, waiting, anxiously, for his first at bat since the injury. And with a single swing, Kelly Shoppach put the nerves to rest, as the ball cleared the left field wall for his second homer of the season.
"It felt good watching it go over the wall". Said an elated Kelly Shoppach. "I've been anxious to get back, finally last night doctors cleared me. Eric wanted me to get in there and start right away, knock the rust off." It's safe to say, that the rust was knocked off with one swing. Victor Martinez commented on the performance of his back-up catcher. Vic got to see a little work tonight, pinch-hitting late in the game. "Kelly is a great guy to have on your ball club, a team guy. Him and I share the catching duties, neither one of us considers ourselves better, so watching that ball fly over the wall, I was the first to my feet cheering."
The Indians have had a lot of success to this point, they're about to match their month best winning streak with another win tomorrow, if they can get it. Jake Westbrook will appear on the mound for the Tribe, looking to get the second series sweep in a a row and push the winning streak to six games. A lot of this winning of course is due to the wonderful bullpen outings thus far this month, that coupled with the dominate save situations by Kerry Wood and the Indians are looking more like a playoff team as the All-Star game approaches.
