AP - Cleveland, OH - Just like their current win streak. The Indians started out hot, and never looked back. Lack of bats is a thing of the past, games of 10+ strikeouts, Gone. What does Eric Wedge accredit all this to? "Someone finally answered our prayers." And that's what sparked a media eruption, a manager willing to say that his prayers have been answered, perhaps by a higher power?

In usual media fashion this started an uproar, one that some Indians took to light. One reporter was quoted in the locker room, asking Victor Martinez. "Vic, Eric Wedge says that your prayers were finally answered, do you credit faith to your home run tonight?" An often mute Martinez put a smile on his face, "You telling me that Jesus Christ can't hit a curve ball?"

Grady Sizemore, who has been shuffled around the line-up as of late had this comment. "Eric is a smart guy, he knows his players, he knows that things will come around he knows that we're in it to win it. So why would a turn around surprise you? He found the formula, we're winning ball-games again." As the Indians closed the night on their 8th win, one loss was still in question, that of back-up Catcher Kelly Shoppach. Who went down after sliding into second, the same thing, that left fielder Ben Francisco did only days earlier. X-rays were scheduled, a report due later this evening.

Injury Update:

Indians Shoppach expected to miss 1-2 months.​

AP - Cleveland, OH - The news isn't good for Kelly Shoppach, or the Indians. The back-up catcher who slid into second on a hit ball failed to get to his feet after the play. He grabbed at his leg in pain, the same thing that worried this staff a few days ago when Ben Fransisco went down sliding into second.

"Kelly did everything he was supposed to do, slide in to break up the play." Shoppach was batting for Travis Hafner, he had gotten a base hit and on a ground ball play was running to second. The Twins attempted a double play and Shoppach was able to break it up, however, it was at the expense of his own body.

"Reviewing the tape it looks like his leg caught on the bag. The momentum and weight of his body hit his shin, and that's where the break happened." Said Eric Wedge. Official word from the doctors is Shoppach didn't break his shin but rather, fractured it. Shoppach who was batting .437 with a HR and 2 RBI will be sidelined for 1-2 months with the injury. The Indians have placed him on the 60 day DL.

AP - Cleveland, OH - It was a Sunday to forget as 43,383 Cleveland Fans left Progressive Field on a Sunday afternoon. The Twins spoiled the Indians second straight home sweep, and also ended their winning streak at 8 games. The Indians next series is against the boys from Bean town, the Boston Redsox. Joe Crede celebrated his birthday on this Sunday with a solo shot over the left field wall.

"It's just something, special. To hit one on my birthday, kinda odd but giving the team a win against this red hot team has been the best birthday present." an elated Crede said after the game. The Indians had climbed from fifth in the Central division to second after taking two of three from the Minnesota Twins. They still trail the Tigers in the central, their May 1st-3rd opponent.

AP - Cleveland, OH - The boys from Boston came, saw, and conquered the Cleveland Indians in front of a sold out crowd. Indians attendance has been up lately. A lot having to do with the repricing of seating throughout the stadium. A move GM Mark Shapiro hopes pays off in the long run. Shapiro earlier in the season lowered all prices on the seating at Progressive Field, dropping them to the lowest in the league within an average window. Meaning that if bleacher seats cost on average between $11-15, in Cleveland your paying $11, while in New York you could be paying as much as $20.

Shapiro has seen the price change take effect as the Indians have sold out 5 of their 7 games played in this home swing. Including last nights loss to the Boston Red Sox in extra innings. Shapiro was reached after the game to talk about the price changes, and the loss. "It's unfortunate to say the least, to go against a team of this caliber, stand with them for nine innings but not eleven. The fans deserved a win tonight, our boys didn't deliver." A lot of speculation was given after the contest about the future of Masahide Kobayashi who has been rocked in every appearance he made this season. "That will be discussed later tonight, we have an issue in the Bullpen that needs addressed." The Indians coming off a loss the night prior are trying to right the ship before playing the AL Central Division leading Tigers.

A two run shot in the eleventh gave the Red Sox the win tonight, it came off the bat of Mike Lowell, his fifth home run of the season. The three game series continues tomorrow night.

AP - Cleveland, OH - The MVP Cometh... Dustin Pedroia proved that HE CAN hit the high and inside fastball...Twice. Cliff Lee went after last years MVP and payed for it. Pedroia sent two shots in left field, both of them within ten feet of each other as they reached the "Pepsi Home Run Porch" in left field. Cliff talked about the pitches after the game. "You've seen it, the commercial, Dustin can hit those pitches. I gave him two inside fastballs one fell off towards the end and the other was spot on. He crushed both of them, the one I was impressed by was that shot from Ortiz, that thing flew!"

Ortiz did in fact smack one to right field, 370ft to right field to be exact. It landed just inside the visitors bullpen, it was a towering shot that if it was given a straight away flight instead of the atmospheric path it took, it could of landed in Lake Erie. The Indians down early though would answer back and refuse to lose their third straight, and second to Boston. Led by the bat of Ryan Garko the Indians climbed back into the game and went ahead, Garko pushed across his own homer in the first, a three run shot to put the tribe on top. He later hit a blooper over first to score his fourth RBI of the game.

Garko had some help with Jhonny Peralta matching a shot from Pedroia, pushing one onto the home run porch and giving the Indians two insurance runs in the eighth. The series will conclude tomorrow and the Indians are given a day off to go into May to face the AL Central leading Tigers.

AP - Cleveland, OH - The Indians needed a little help, from Julio Lugo. In the eighth inning, The Indians started off by giving up two fly-outs. It was time for the middle of the line-up to answer. First it was Travis Hafner, with a single shot to right field. Then Jamey Carrol delivered a single of his own.

The Red Sox went to their Bullpen and brought out Delcarmen, charged with putting the Indians away, and sending them home 5-3 losers. What happened next is one for the memory books. The Indians down to their final out, Jhonny Peralta at the plate. Peralta hits a line drive to center field. One that Jacoby Ellsbury dove for...and missed. The ball going just under his glove brought two runs home for the tribe, putting Peralta on third. The two out rally wasn't over just yet.

Peralta was sitting 90 feet from home, in steps Mark DeRosa who has been an excellent addition to this club. Hitting .377 on the season it was in his hands, and DeRosa delivered, as Peralta took off it looked like he would reach, but would DeRosa? As Lugo scooped the ball into his glove he fired it hard to David Ortiz, or at least it was supposed to go to Ortiz. The ball sailed over his head, a throw that would of beat DeRosa and with the Error the Indians took a 6-5 lead heading into the ninth.

Wood was brought out of the bullpen after much debate and shut the door on the Red Sox ending the series 2-1 in favor of the Indians. A score that will look to be settled later in Boston. Cleveland escaped this one, as they head into their day off to close out a wild month of April baseball.

Possible May Moves:

- M. Kobayashi more than likely will be moved down to (AAA) Columbus, his poor play out of the Bullpen has cost the Indians games, including a win in New York where the Indians could of swept the Yankees. Eric Wedge has had nothing positive out of this guy since the start of the season. He could be moved from the organization entirely if he's not careful.

- Travis Hafner has avoided the trade block due to his comeback performance in late April, he's now batting above .300. The Indians are still looking for his power however, if that doesn't come around, look for trade block talks to emerge out of the Indians camp.

- Zach Johnson has performed well in Columbus (AAA), the back-end of the Indians rotation has suffered, if their struggles continue you could see a move as early as May 4th to bring this kid up and fit into the four or five slot on the rotation.

- Jake Westbrook continues to struggle in Columbus (AAA), he may be placed on the trade block soon, or if the Indians believe he can still be used in their organization, he could be dropped to Akron (AA) in favor of one, Chris Jahnikow.

- Chris Jahnikow, of Akron (AA) will possibly be moved up to Columbus, (AAA) with all the rumors flying of a poor rotation the Indians could look to test him out in Columbus to gauge his MLB performance.

- Kelly Shoppach's future is looking good, the club can still use him, there will be little word on him through the month of May as he continues to heal, and rehab. Columbus (AAA) would be his assignment most likely to get a feel for his bat and glove again.

- Junichi Hayashi of Akron (AA) sustained an injury in late April, one that will bench him for 5-6 Months. Hayashi suffered a torn Achilles Tendon and will miss the rest of the season most likely.

Yes, I was surprised the most by the Western division in both conferences. Where the AL West is tight but weak in record, and where the NL is strong with three teams over .500. Those are some tough teams, hope that when inter league play starts they don't beat up on me too bad.
