Sorry, it's just my opinion.

LeBron James was better at carrying mediocre teams than Dwyane Wade.

James and Kobe Bryant are a level higher than Wade ... and that's not disparaging Wade - he's a great player, but if you ask NBA GMs who they takes, forgetting the marketing crap, all of them take James.

Based on what? That would be the WEAKEST argument for "James over Wade", yet, as is your wont, thats the direction you've taken this.

While I think James is a better all-around player than Wade, I think Wade is actually the more hard-nosed player. The guy is a silent assassin. James is built like a Greek God, but, IMO, he only occasionally takes over a big game on a physical and emotional level. To me, that is what makes Jordan, Kobe, and Wade different than James. I've seen Jordan, Kobe, and Wade single-handedly cut the heart out of the opposition...I've only seen James do this twice.

Maybe this is irrelevant, but I remember Dwayne Wade putting little Marquette on his shoulders and destroying #1 Kentucky in the Elite Eight. People were proclaiming Kentucky one of the best teams in college basketball history, and Wade KILLED them. 29 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 blocks. It was the greatest college basketball performance I had ever witnessed.

James not being like Kobe, MJ, Wade, etc is proven even further in the article FT posted yesterday about how James wants to facilitate, but not necessarily take over like Kobe, MJ, Wade, etc. In a way though that's unfortunate, because they guy has the physical tools to be like an assassin, but mentally he's more passive.

BTW, I know it wasn't the Finals, but what Kobe did to the Suns in game 6 was just amazing. I haven't seen a player take over a game like that since Wade in 2006. I'm normally not the type of guy that jumps out of his seat, but when Kobe took over that I game I couldn't help it.

It's not the style...it's the mentality.

Yeah James will turn into a more Magic Johnson type player but the mentality is off. Magic was handed the keys to that Lakers organization and was THE guy. He relished that role and performed greatly in it and he was the leader of that team, there was no questioning that and everyone knew.

Lebron, while he might play a Magic "style" of basketball, the issue everyone has is he seems to lack the killer instinct of players like Magic, Michael, Larry, Kobe, etc etc...and that's what people expected. They expected Bron to be THE guy and want that mentality and want to be the leader and THE man. He was suppossed to be the GOAT, The King, all that stuf and that choice shows his mentality isn't of wanting to be that.

Also, the Queen James stuff in every post and at every reference has to end. For the love of Christ Dave, you sound like a lame Skip Bayless.

And, along with the "Queen James" needing to stop, so does the "King James". It just doesn't fit.

Its not a matter of playing style. Magic was an all-around player, like James, and frequently got triple-doubles. He was a facilitator, but he also did whatever it took to win. If that meant replacing Kareem and scoring 45 points against the Sixers, thats what Magic did. If it meant playing fastbreak and running the Celtics off the court, thats what he did. If it meant slowing the game down and going inside to Kareem, thats what he did.

I guess my point is that if you watched Magic play, you always had the feeling that he was in total control of the game. He could get other people involved, but if the going got tough he could take over. The times I've watched LeBron James play, I never get the feeling that James is in control. He's just one of 10 guys on the court. He's very good, but he's also quite honestly the least-compelling "superstar" I have ever seen in any sport.
