Still a pretty good draft overall. Out of the top 29 picks, 11-12 of them turned out to be decent.

Yeah, as he was walking up to the podium Bilas was blaring over the loud speakers. Very awkward. "If I had to pick one guy to be a bust, it'd be Josh Smith. No right hand, no work ethic, lazy, completely disinterested in getting better, blah, blah, blah"

Might have been a blessing actually because maybe it motivated Smith, who turned out to be a steal as the 18th pick. Unfortunately we had already taken Josh Childress with the #6 pick that night or else I'd say that for once Billy Knight actually had a good draft.

LOL, one thing I love to do is look at old drafts and see how guys have panned out. Remember when the there was a big debate over taking Okafor or Howard? LOL, but Okafor was the proven commodity....he has experience...Dwight Howard weighs like 150 pounds!!

As much as I despise Deng..or the overratedness of Deng, by Chicago fans the draft pick relative to other players taken behind Dwight wasn't bad.

I think you guys are exaggerating Perkins a bit. It is probably more advantageous overall to be 6'10" and 260-270 then it is to be 6'10"-300. I don't think he will have any more trouble bodying up anyone. The only reason he was so heavy in the first place was because of his surgery.

We're not talking 50 Cent with cancer here.

He was a pretty effective player for the celtics. To say he could turn out to be a top 15 pf next to Howard? Not that far fetched. Howard did make Hedo and Rashard Lewis look amazing next to him during their playoff run.

Hedo and Shard weren't Howard's doing though. It was system-based. They routinely "went small" and played those 2 at PF and basically backed them up the three point line causing the Anderson Varejao of the worlds to come out and defend them which they couldn't do.

Big Baby is a limited finisher around the rim. Shedding the weight will help with elevating but he really doesn't have any hops at all. Because of that he is gonna get his shot blocked a lot, so it's hard to ever envision him becoming a true frontline starting player. Great rotational guy, since he has some touch from the midrange and he plays hard, but I can't ever see him being a "top 15 PF".
