Seriously though, maybe a Colts fan can answer this for me. If they weren't happy with Painter, why didn't they persue Jim Sorgi? Is he even available? You have to think he was a better option than Collins.

I still say Collins was partly a PR move.

At least I have some recollection of Brady playing at Michigan...this dude Painter looks like in his off season from surfing he occasionally plays QB in the NFL

Pretty sure Painter had better career stats/ more starts than Brady. Not going to look it up though. Despite that they were drafted in the same round...so well that tells you all you need to know about Painter.

Yes, Collins struggled, that was obvious. The Colts were down early and forced him to throw a lot. Outside of the fumbles Collins wasn't too bad. I forgive Collins for the fumbles under center because that's merely a timing thing that needs to be worked out. If you take that away and look at it he didn't have a horrendous game. In fact he had a 82 qb rating or something like that, that's about average.

The problem is just he's new to the offense, has to get used to the playbook/center, etc, and was down early forcing the Colts to lean on him, and he's certainly no Manning when it comes to that situation in Indianapolis.

Theirs a QB that started this past weekend that had a 1.3 and a 0.0 rating in two games in the same season. Not saying.....just sayin

This has been my point all along, you can't just sign a guy off the street and toss him into the lineup. Especially when he isn't very good to begin with. You are better off sticking with the QB who has been there for years (and isn't very good to begin with) and understands the offense.

And Collins was horrendous. The statistics do not reflect how badly he played. He has zero feel in the pocket, is a walking turnover, and he no longer throws a good ball.

To be fair to Collins, that probably is going to be the worst he looks all season. Hes going to pick up the offense more and more and it will become apparent that, if ANYTHING, he is light years better then Curtis Painter. I actually think Collins settled down a bit in the 2nd half and played better, and had a 2nd TD taken away because Collie couldnt get his feet down. Do I think Collins is a playoff solution? Obviously not. But hes done enough in his career to show me he can atleast move the ball in the NFL, which is more then any Colts back up has shown. If the Colts back-ups werent Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky I prob would just say stick with the guy who knows the system, but knowing the system means nothing when you're truly THAT bad.

Well considering the Colts can't run the ball and don't play D, none of this really bodes well for Collins going forward.

Bernie Kosar had played in a similar offense for a little bit of time prior to when he did this, but I'd count it. And I believe Testaverde in '07?

Kerry Collins has played in the NFL almost 20 years in many different offenses. I'm sure the concepts the Colts run on offense is gonna be somewhat similar and he's had three weeks. You and W2B are making this out to be way more than it is.

Collins will be more effective running less plays than Painter would be running the entire offense.

My thing is this. At least painter knows the offense. I'm surprised they threw Collins in after he's only been there for two weeks. They would have done better starting off the season with Painter until Collins picked up the offense. People saying you have a better chance to win with Collins, but do you? He's been benched for VY twice in the last few years, and VY went crazy. He's never been much of a winner except for a couple of winning seasons here and there, and he doesn't know the playbook. I don't know what about that made him an appealing opening day starter.

I know this though, 1 or 2 more performances like last week and we'll likely see Painter on the field, almost would have to.
