- Do story mission to kill someone LA Noire's missions aren't set up this way.
- Do side quest car (horse) race As far as I know, no races in LA Noire.
- Do story mission to kill unlock new gun No mention of gun unlocks.
- Do story mission to unlock new character No other character unlocks. Missions unlock more suits, but that's it.
- Do side game like poker or darts No bullshit side missions here.
- Collect something like shooting pigeons You can collect landmarks, badges, and rare cars if you want.

This is a much more linear, story-focused effort. If a good single-player story isn't your thing, then don't waste your time playing it.

There aren't any bullshit side missions. The only side missions involve collection and small crimes.

Gunplay isn't even prominent until Act 3.

I just wish the investigation part of it was a little more polished. It is pretty good, but it pales in comparison to how Heavy Rain did it. HR definitely got it right with the clue collection and trying to piece the stuff together. I'm not saying that the guy in 30's Hollyweird should have a power glove that scans the crime scene for him, but it should be a little better than it is.

It would also have been nice, since they saddle you with a partner anyway, to have certain parts of the game where you bounce stuff off of them while trying to connect the dots of how a crime happened. Like Sherlock Holmes did with Watson for example. With how the game is setup like a TV show and every case is like an episode from the show, it would help with building the character of your partner and the teamwork that detectives use.

Just a couple of minor gripes. The game is still very interesting and fun.

Sorry to piss on your parade guys. I don't want to ruin the game for you but this is just one man's opinion. Like I said, I'll be on this bandwagon in a few weeks after the hype dies down and I can pick this up used for $30.

ZERO chance this game is going to be $30 in a few weeks, used or otherwise. Red Dead is a year old and it still retails for $40.

Plus, like others have said, this game is NOT going to be like GTA or RDR.

As for me, I switched my pre-order to the GS in my patrol area show I should have this at midnight and will be playing all day tomorrow.

I will probably go to Kmart on Thursday and pick up a copy there and return that copy to GS. The Kmart deal is too good to pass up but I can't wait until Thursday to play.

The story wasn't what drew me away from GTAIV or RDR. They were both fine by me. What was old for me was the same format of gameplay.

Wash, rinse, repeat. Same game but different settings and stories. The new facial technology isn't going to make the game that much different, imo.

You can be overly critical of any game, from shooters to games like GOW, Batman etc... and claim its all rinse and repeat if you want.

No, I didn't. It doesn't change anything for me though. Rockstar is a good game company but I'm weary about them resting on their laurels because they have had so much success over the years. People will buy just about anything with a Rockstar logo on it these days. It's just how the gaming industry goes. Build up goodwill with some amazing games and then try your damndest to ruin it all by mailing it in on the next few games you release.

I'm still going to wait on this based on the fact that I never finished GTAIV and RDR. I want to wait to see some reviews come out, too. I'll probably play it at somepoint but the sandbox shit got old for me after San Andreas. I really didn't realize that until I played RDR.

QFT.....i worry abuot this too with RS because of exactly what you posted. But i figure at worst i can expect a good game with 30-40 hours of play. Unless they totally put out a turd which i highly doubt.

RDR followed the same structure as GTA and while it was a different setting all together it got old pretty fast

And I am really excited to see what Rockstar did with this game. I loved Heavy Rain, but thought there could be a little more action. LA Noire looks like it could be that.
