Awesome fight to watch, especially after those awful undercard bouts.

I also had Cotto for the same reasons as most. Pac really impressed me with his speed, power, and chin. He dominated Miguel Cotto. Literally beat the shit out of him. It wasn't close.

Cotto is a great boxer but Pac Man is one of the greatest pound for pound fighters of all time.

I think he could take Floyd. That fight would be absolutely amazing to watch because of the talent and styles.

I'm a pinoy, so that is why i'm a pacquiao fan. So let me get the whole bandwagon stereotype out the window.

Personally when watching the match, I thought aside from round 1. Cotto took a ass woopin' in every round. Pacquiao's footwork can only be matched by maybe PBF. His lead jab is so nice and when he pressured Cotto (starting in the 2nd) it was lights out.

I had Pacquiao up by 3/4 points going into the 12th. I don't just give rounds for coming forward, I believe a lot of Pacquiao's jabs only found Cotto's guard. Scoring was on punches landed and good defence (and obviously taking knockdowns into account).

Smarter game plan? Cotto was lucky to win all of TWO ROUNDS.. he was flat out out classed and out boxed. Manny is the baddest man on the planet right now wearing boxing gloves, no two ways about it. Floyd is scared his legacy is going to get ruined by an Asian dude.

I don't know why you can't see why I'm saying smarter game plan unless you're blinded by Pacquiao love? Cotto was landing clean punches on Pacquiao when Pacquiao would be standing with a guard up as some retard form of defending himself. How much the punches affected Pacquiao doesn't matter - it's about landing them on scoring areas (not the forearms/upper arms like I saw Pacquiao's land). Cotto, before tiring or seemingly getting angry, was continuously making Pacquiao miss. If he was looking to box - land the clean shots, make Pac miss, avoid flurries (where Manny did look and land better) then he could have won the fight as I've said.

Cotto's gameplan was great at the start, then he abandoned it after getting hit once and never went back.... if he actually boxed Manny he had a shot... instead he would get into wild exchanges with him ( while exciting for the fans, fucking stupid for Cotto) and Manny's strange angles and superior speed would take over.. great gameplan by Roach for Manny, attack from different angles, use your quickness make it a brawl....

with all that said, Pacquaio is a great fighter.... i dont believe the hype though when it comes to him being the greatest left-handed fighter ever.... come on...... in my view he has a ways to go to get to Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker's level.... he is the greatest left handed fighter i have seen.....

sidenote: no one seems to mention that Pacquaio is making fighters come down to his weight and hand-picking the guys he fights against.... but when Floyd Mayweather does it, he is scared or ducking guys.... im just saying....

You guys are acting as if Cotto just threw the gameplan out the window when in reality Pac forced him to throw the gameplan out the window because he knocked him down twice within the first 4 rounds.

Cotto was able to hold his ground and get the better of some of the exchanges early on, especially in the first 4 rounds, but after he went down twice he got on his horse and started backpedaling because he was afraid of Pac's power and speed. He knew that if he stood his ground and tried to continue to counter and exchange he was going to be stopped.

Davie, I honestly don't know what fight you were watching. Pac controlled and pressed Cotto for nearly the entire fight. He knocked him down twice. He threw and landed more punches, hurt Cotto, and controlled the pace of the fight.

No doubt about it Cotto landed some good punches but they did not hurt Pac at all. And if you're pointing to the scorecard then Pac wins there, fairly easily, too.

to answer your other statements.... If Cotto boxed, and didnt decide to brawl with Manny he would have been able to see the punches coming, Cotto decided to trade during one of Manny great flurries instead of covering or moving... and he got caught with a couple of great punches he simply didnt see... when Cotto was boxing he was in the fight, i am not saying he could have won that way but he was in the fight....the fight was competitive.... the few times Cotto decided to brawl he got destroyed....

I didn't say Pac was the best fighter at 147, either. He hasn't even fought at 147 so he isn't a 147 pounder.

and I recognize his ability but it's silly to think that simply because Manny can't keep moving up in weight and taking on the best automatically means he is not one of the greatest pound for pound fighters of all time. Manny's already supplanted himself as one of the best P4P fighters ever - 7 belts in 7 weight classes - that speaks for itself.

I just don't understand how you can question Manny's toughness by calling him out for not fighting a guy like Paul Williams. I mean come on man, the size difference between the two is just absurd. It's just not even reasonable for Manny to move up again and fight a much bigger guy like Williams, who is actually closer to 157 than 147.

As far as Mosley/Pac goes, we haven't heard anything from the two about fighting each other so who knows if either of them wants that fight. No doubt that'd be a great fight and I'd love to see it, but every fighter picks their fights so let's not act like Manny is the only one that doesn't take every single fight out there.

Not only that, but Cotto slowed down throughout the fight while Manny got stronger. There's just no reason to think that Cotto could have possibly stuck with his gameplan of trying to defend, counter and pick spots over the course of 12 rounds when he couldn't even do it for 4 rounds.

Manny forces guys to brawl with him because his style is empowering. He's too fast, powerful, and unorthodox'd for guys to stick to their gameplans. That's what he does. He forces guys to fight the way that he wants to fight because he is always the pace setter.

Cotto didnt do that.... good gameplan poor execution.... Cotto thought he could brawl iwth Pac-Man in spurts and be ok.... he couldnt... i never said Manny wasnt a great fighter... he is... the 7 belts in 7 weight classes... whatever.... not really big on that, more for the average fan and media to hang on him...
