No he's not. Clearly. Otherwise the Rams wouldn't be picking 1st, 2nd, and 2nd in the last 3 drafts.

Bulger has entered the Matt Hasselbeck realm.. like Hasselbeck, Bulger needs a lot of help around him to be successful.. he's not good enough to will a team to victory anymore.

And the Rams roster is MISERABLE. Bulger would be solid with good personnel around him, but not the Rams roster. Hence why they need to look ahead to the future and make a change.

So paying 1st rd money to a rookie qb with question marks is a better option? I say 1st trade down to tb get get a couple picks back. Trade down to like 8-10 area get more picks. Draft dez Bryant to get some wr help. Draft a qb in the 2nd and then use all your extra picks to fill your needs. Have said qb sit for a yr or 2 so you can put him in a position to suceed and not fail. Right now if the rams pick a qb in the top of the 1st he will be a bust.

Bulger's a fucking bum. I think it's a good idea to build a team and then put the QB in... But y'all could be running out of time.

Seems like they have some anchors on the offensive and defensive line. Steven Jackson is a beast. They should look at getting some receivers soon, too.

In any case, they should keep Bulger as a hold-over. Or some other average/bad QB. That way, if they draft Bradford he won't get thrown to the fire immediately.

well im sure its been mentioned elsewhere but Schefter is saying there is no way the rams skip on bradford. Schefter is probably the best beat reporter since prisco went MMA. That being said, I could see the rams sitting on another shitty season with a draft full of "cant misses" and and then plucking a franchise QB in the bottom half of the first next season. I dont think theres a quarterback in this draft thats going to work out to anything more than a bulger though. plus, if the current regime waits till the end of next season for its quarterback, thats gonna buy them another couple of seasons while he works out. St. Louis is off the radar though. they are the worst team that most people dont think of when they think of awful teams. that means they have time to get it right. and that means another year of bulger, especially with all the uncapped year/labor stuff making everyone too chicken shit to make a big move

No team will trade up to the #1 overall, other than maybe Tampa Bay.
Having the #1 overall is suicide for most teams, all that guaranteed money for a player you have no clue about.

Hell, look at Detroit, even now - is anyone really sure about Matthew Stafford?

The logic here at VSN is the keep Bulger, and avoid drafting the best QB in the last two draft classes, because, well, he'll bust. We were told to avoid Sanchez last season, because of his lack of college experience, and the year before that, I forget what Matt Ryan's problem was.

Bulger was a good system QB under Martz five years ago. Today, he is garbage. Part of his struggles are due to getting beaten up for the past three years, but that is partially his fault because he stands in the pocket like a statue.

Isn't that what the Rams did by drafting Long in 2008 and Smith in 2009? How well has that worked out? The Rams are already paying Long a ridiculous amount of money to play defensive line, part of me is not comfortable throwing a ridiculous amount of money at another defensive lineman.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your post though. If there is a solid free agent QB available AND Suh really is a once in a decade type player, then it would be best for the Rams to go this route.

like I said- GMs and scouts getting creative/smart- Kitna? Vick ? no way- definitely someone younger.

But you know what... A mobile QB with a questionable line might not be a bad move and Vick paid attention this time to McNabb and the coaches so I would give him a look at least.... Randall Cunningham became a decent pocket passer when he returned and played for Vikings...just a historic example of hope and promise
